I woke up at 7:25 and watched the market open.  It initially went up but all the indexes were slightly negative by the end of the day. The market is cooling after a long upward run that took all the indexes to new record highs. Today the Dow briefly hit 40,000 to set a new high inter day.  Mt portfolio went from a gain to a minimal loss for the day of .003%.

I drank a cup of latte macchiato with two pain au chocolates for breakfast.

Loyda came at 9:00 and helped us put up the silver and my old annuals and then cleaned the house. The living room is finally cleaned.

I called Pete4 and met him for lunch at Garcia’s on Central at 11:15 for our traditional Thursday bowl of menudo. You would think that something as simple to make as tripe and hominy cooked in chili water would not vary qualitatively from one restaurant to another, but it does. For example the menudo at El super is so heavily salted as to make it inedible for me.

After trying many places Peter and I now agree that Garcia’s menudo is the best. It has less salt and the tripe is cut into bite sized squares and the ratio of menudo to Posole seems to about right at about 2/3 of the volume being posole and the red chili not over powering the dish with fresh chopped onion, dried oregano and lemon wedges.

After lunch I went home and rested and read 2001 Space Odyssey By Arthur Clarke until 3:20, when I walked around the block.

The flowers blooming in the Yates side yard were lovely.

Suzette arrived at 4:00. I read until 5:00 and then ate the leftover Vietnamese noodles from Basil Leaf.

Suzette lay down at 5:30 and at 6:00 I started cooking dinner. Suzette had suggested adding some sausage to the leftover steak and adding mushrooms. I got the concept and started chopping steak and sausage and then onion and garlic and then I sliced two mushrooms and finally I dced a Roma tomato.

I sautéed all the ingredients and when Suzette came back to the kitchen at 6:30 and went to pick several sprigs of beautifully fresh young oregano that I chopped and added to the dish with the pasta to create a one pot dinner.

This a perfect example of cooking with PPI’s. I combined the PPI steak and pasta with two mushrooms, a slice of sausage diced, a Roma tomato, two cloves of garlic, and two slices of onion and some fresh oregano garnished with slices of Pecorino Romano cheese for a fabulous dinner from a bit of this and that.

We also drank the wine in the three open bottles. Suzette drank the Barolo and I drank the Faustino V and then Suzette drank a glass of Embroidery Pinot Noir.

We then moved to the TV area and watched Denver get crushed early in game 6 with the Minnesota at 7:00 and then changed at 8:00 to Midsomer Mystery.

At 9:30 when it ended Suzette went to bed and I stayed up to blog and watch Edmonton v. Vancouver NHL playoff game that Vancouver won with 31 seconds left at the end of regulation. Very exciting and happy to see Vancouver win since that is where Willy went to college.

I ate a lot of food today and it made my muscles feel great.

I don’t know if I will ever lose weight. Suzette believes I can lose weight if I get my steps up to 5000 or 6000 a day.

I got close to 4000 today, so there may be hope.

Bon Appetit
