I woke up and checked the pre-market and all the indices were trending downward and that is how they ended with the Dow falling 201 points and Nvda ending the day down $4.36 for the day.

But 5at was a false indicator of what was to come when Nvda announced its quarterly earnings 19 minutes after the market close.

Here is the initial summary by CFO Kressig:

Q1 was another record quarter. Revenue of $26 billion was up 18% sequentially and up 262% year-on-year and well above our outlook of $24 billion.

Starting with Data Center. Data Center revenue of $22.6 billion was a record, up 23% sequentially and up 427% year-on-year, driven by continued strong demand for the NVIDIA Hopper GPU computing platform. Compute revenue grew more than 5x and networking revenue more than 3x from last year.

That sent NVDA’s stock price up $57.50 to $1007 per share, which was great but what caught my attention was the announcement of a 9 for 1 stock split that will reduce the share price to approximately $100, which should trigger investor demand for shares because of the reasonable price and drive the stock price up faster.

I was thrilled. Tomorrow should be a great day for the market as the AI bubble expands.

For breakfast I heated the three remaning Madeleine croissants in the oven to crisp their edges and Suzette and I ate 1 1/2 each with cups of latte macchiato.

Then Suzette left for work and I dressed and drove to my 10:00 meeting that lasted until noon.

I then drove to Costco and shopped and bought about ten bottles of wine, 2 2021 Chateau Haut Lafitte, a Kirkland Chianti Riserva, a Spanish Juves and Campos cava, a Malbec, another Bordeaux claret, a Kirkland Pinot Grigio, an M. Chapoutier white Cotes du Rhone, and several others.

I also bought French baguettes, lamb chops, roasted duck, Berreta charcuterie, asparagus, mushrooms, and blueberries.

After I checked out I ate a hot dog and several cups of Pepsi to try to regain my strength.

At 1:30 I drove home and unloaded the groceries and wine from the car and then watched the market close. My portfolio was down .3%.

But the Nvidia Gorilla entered the spotlight at 2:19 as stated above that will take my portfolio from a modest loss today to the potential of a large gain tomorrow, if anything close to the after hours increase of $57.50 holds.

At 2:30 I drove to Bill Turner’s and reviewed a file with Matt and returned home at 4:00.

While I was watching Ari Melber Suzette arrived in less pain and a better mood as a result of the massage she had today at her spa.

We discussed dinner and because we were out of propane for the grill Suzette suggested cooking six of the lamb chops in the steamer oven. The result was terrific. The chops were tender and juicy even though cooked to medium well.

Suzette also diced two cooked baked potatoes, some onion, and two zucchini squash and sautéed them those vegetables in a skillet on the stove.

I poured out the rest of the bottle of 2021 Spanish Tempranillo named La Enfermera that was really smooth and left at the party Friday night.

After dinner we watched a PBS Nova program on the developments in Cosmology in the last 50 years as we ate lemon bars with cognac and Calvados.  The most interesting aspect was that the universe is expanding rapidly and no one has yet identified the form of gravitational force causing the expansion and the force holding the stars in their respective orbits around galaxies as the universe expands. The term being used is Dark Energy.

At 9:00 we watched the new Daily Show host and went to bed at 9:30.

I to blog and Suzette to sleep.

Bon Appetit
