November 3, 2022 Lunch - Chicken Korma, Tomatillo Dhal, rice, and samosas   Dinner - Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes with garden greens

This was a lovely day of food.  Peter drove Charlie and me to the book club meeting at Jeff’s house in Placitas.  Jeff’s house is sited high on a ridge just west of Tunnel Springs road with 360 degree views of the Sandias and the Jemez Mountains.

Pradip was the host and cooked an Indian meal for us since his book was Stayin’ On by Paul Scott.

Pradip prepared Chicken Korma, Tomatillo Dhal, rice, and samosas.

I brought raita for the meal.

Jeff is a member of the Vara wine club and served a bottle of Spanish Grenache that I drank and enjoyed.  We were talking during lunch about wine and spirits and Jeff told us that Costco sells a nice mezcal and brought out a bottle of Dos Hermanos mezcal.  It tasted very clean although it lacked the worm.

After lunch we moved into the living room and held the meeting until 3:00.

Peter drove us home.

When I arrived I received a call from Bill and went to his office to discuss a case.

When I returned home a bit before 6:00, Suzette was watching TV and the meatloaf she made for dinner was baking in the oven.

When it was done I poured glasses of Kirkland 2020 Cotes Du Rhone red and Suzette heated the PPI Mashed Potatoes and made a cranberry sauce/guayaba paste condiment that she served on the plate with a huge slice of meatloaf laid on a pile of mashed Potatoes.

Suzette said she had seasoned the meatloaf with ground basil and herbs de Simon from our garden.

This was another immensely satisfying meal, although I overate a bit because I ate a slice of Clementine cake and cheesecake that Suzette brought home from the Greenhouse Bistro after dinner with sips of wine.

Later I drank a cup of chai as we watched the Astros beat Philly again to take a 3 to 2 lead.

Yesterday Trump settled a case brought by protesters his security guards beat while they were picketing in front of Trump Tower several years ago.

Also the Dept. of Justice has granted Kash Patel, who was in charge of the secret documents at Mar a Lago immunity that will force him to tell the truth about Trump’s involvement with the documents or face perjury charges.  I hope he sings like a bird.

Bon Appetit
