November 12, 2022 Lunch - Eggs Sunny side up, cottage fries, smoked pork chop and toast. Dinner - chicken Alfredo with pasta
Today we did some cooking and my two favorite teams won, Leicester City and TCU.
I watched PL soccer in the morning and Leicester won pretty easily. The early match was historic. Brentford beat Man City at Man City which has not occurred since 1938.
The third match was rather nasty, between No. 4 Newcastle and No. 8 Chelsea.
It was a rough and tumble affair that Newcastle won 1 to 0 that included a skirmish at the end. But Newcastle went up into 3rd position.
In the morning we ate the new bagel and lax and cream cheese that is being offered for brunch in the weekends at the Greenhouse Bistro. The bagel is a real bagel of the water cooked chewy dense variety, not the baked marshmallowy type.
Then at 12:00 Suzette fried eggs sunny side up, cottage fries, a smoked pork chop for brunch and toasted me two slices of whole wheat bread that I spread with butter and blackberry jam.
After lunch we drove to Home Depot so Suzette could shop and then Vara, where we sampled the new wines being offered in the November allotment.
We liked all of them, a 2021 Spanish Albariño, a California Carignan, and a Red cab, Syrah, and Grenache blend named La Zingara plus the Sparkling wines made by Laurent.
After Vara we drove home and I rested until suzette got me up at 5:30 to watch the TCU v. Texas football game and cook dinner.
I chopped celery, an apple, 1/3 onion, a chicken breast, and walnuts and added raisins for a curried chicken salad.
I also chopped two Mexican large green onions and chicken for the chicken Alfredo with broccoli flowerets Suzette made for dinner.
Suzette grated several cheeses and added some cheese tipi a cream sauce and added the cooked chicken and blanched broccoli. She boiled spaetzle egg noodles and flat Italian noodles for the base and then added the Alfredo sauce tossed with chicken and broccoli.
After dinner we watched TCU beat Texas to go 9 and 0 and stay No. 4 in the nation.
We watched a bit of Saturday Night live that now comes on at 8:00.
But the absolutely best thing we watched were the election results from Nevada which resulted in Masto being re-elected to the a senate and giving the Democrats control of the Senate.
As Matthew Dow’s commented, “This is the beginning of the multi-ethnic, multi-racial society in America.”
Bon Appetit
