August 30, 2026 Breakfast - Toasted Cheese and jam Sandwiches  Lunch - Lentil Stew, mushroom, and hotdog omelet. Dinner - Stir fried Egg noodles with mushroom, wood ear, leeks and steak

Most of the day was spent working at our desks, except we did some gardening and then rode our bikes around the neighborhood.

I woke up at 7:30 and ate toasted baguette smeared with butter and cherry preserves and garnished with slices of Jarlsberg cheese with a chai.

At 1:30 we were hungry so I sliced four portobello mushrooms and a shallot and we sautéed those ingredients with the leftover lentil stew with hotdogs leftover from last night’s dinner and added four whisked eggs and 4 orange cherry tomatoes cut in half.

At 6:00 we watched Miss Fisher and snacked on cheddar cheese slices and Ritz crackers.

Dinner - at 7:00 we began dinner prep.

I sliced the white part of three leeks, the rest of the fresh wood ears, 1/2 of a big Jim green chili, three cloves of garlic, about a T. of ginger, and 3 oz. of brown beech mushrooms plus 3/4 lb. of rib steak into 1 inch by 1/4 inch  long strips.

Suzette fetched the wok and made a seasoning sauce with about 1-2 T. each of sweet soy, red miso, hoisin sauce, and mirin.

When Willy arrived at 7:15 we started cooking. Suzette stir fried the ingredients in the wok in peanut oil.

Then she boiled 1/2 lb. of fresh egg noodles in boiling water for two minutes and then added them to the wok and added the seasoning sauce and mixed the ingredients for a couple of minutes to coat everything with sauce and then filled three bowls with the noodle mixture.

I opened a bottle of Cahors French Malbec and poured three glasses.

After dinner we watch an episode of Ted Lasso ate a few forks filled with the fresh peach cobbler Suzette made while i was prepping ingredients from peaches grown at the Center..

Then at noodles were delicious and the cobbler was amazing.

We watched an episode of Ted Lasso, said goodnight to Willy, and went to bed at 8:30.

Bon Appetit
