July 2, 2024 Lunch - La Choza Dinner - Grilled lamb chops and leeks with salad We got up and packed and left for Taos around 10:30. We arrived in Santa Fe around 11:30 and decided to go to La Choza for lunch. We are cutting down on our food so we split a guacamole and an enchiladas Plate with carne Adovado with double Posole and red chili. The red chili was very picante so we ordered an extra ramekin of sour cream and dumped the guacamole on the enchilada to calm the heat. We were lucky to have split an order. When food is highly seasoned a little goes a long way. We were not hungry until dinner at 8:00. After lunch we drove to Taos and stopped at 203 Fine Arts. I realized many of the paintings were over priced, but it was fun talking to Eric because he is so knowledgeable. We then drove to Barry and Kylene’s house and settled in. Much of the afternoon was spent reading and relaxing. At 7:00 we watched Finding your Roots. Although a re-run, it was a particularly interesting episode because it featured Julia Roberts and Ed Norton, who as it turned out were related to each other. Julia’s mother’s side of the family went way back in Sweden and Ed was related to Pocahontas at Jamestown in 1614 and one included a relative from North Carolina who fought in the Revolutionary War. Afterwards we cooked dinner, Suzette grilled lamb chops and the leeks we bought at the Farmers ‘ Market and we made a salad with the bibb Lettuce we bought at the Farmers’ market, fresh tomatoes from our garden and a few slices of cucumber. We ate outside during the sunset. The house is beautifully sited with a great view of Wheeler Peak. We watched some Brazil tie Columbia in Copa America and then a few minutes of Austria against Turkey. Turkey won. Then we went to bed. Bon Appetit
