July 19, 2024 Lunch - Vietnam 2000. Dinner - Melted Cheese Chicken Sandwiches and Neighborhood Cocktail Party

I watched a really exciting Stage 19 of the Tour de France where Tadey road from 3 minutes back to win by 23 seconds on a summit finish for his fourth Tour win this year and 14th stage win all time. During the stage I ate a pain au chocolate and drank a latte.

Then I worked on a non-profit corporation’s Bylaws and Organizational Minutes.

At 11:30 Peter came and I drove us to Vietnam 2000 where we each ate No. 50, patted rice noodles with egg rolls and grilled marinated pork with lettuce and fish sauce. You dip the noodles and egg roll or pork in the fish sauce and then you lay the noodles and egg roll or pork on a lettuce leaf and roll it to make a lettuce wrap.

Peter drank iced coffee and I drank water.

When I returned home I checked the market and it was another down day, perhaps triggered by a major tech outage caused by a bug in a Crowdstrike computer upgrade.  The Dow was down 377 points and the NASDAQ was down 144 points.

I rested and read until Suzette came home.

We each made chicken sandwiches with slices of chicken breast, Manchego cheese, and tomato on toasted baguette.

Then at 7:00 we filled a serving dish with tabouli and grabbed a bottle of French Palantir Sauvignon Blanc and drove to Jessica and John’s house for the neighborhood cocktail party. We met a lot of interesting people and sat and talked to several at their dining table. The wines were good, including a nice Kirkland Chateauneuf du Pape that I had not seen before.

The food was good also. John’s mother made the BBQ sauce for the n meatballs aJohn made that included a secret ingredient, grape jelly.

Yasmin made small bunt cakes with a cream cheese icing that were wonderful.  We left at 9:00 toward the end of the evening.

At 10:00 we watched a David Rubinstein production on the Bald Eagle as an American symbol and I went to bed at 10:30 after a cup of tea and two oatmeal cookies.

Bon Appetit
