July 14, 2024 Lunch - Salami Sandwiches Diner Sautéed Smoked Pork Chops and Apple slices, PPI Rice, and PPI kale Waldorf Salad

When I tuned in Stage 15 of the tour at 6:30 today it was half over with two of the mountains climbed and two to go. The last two took over two hours with long stretches of valley in between.  Tadej had the stronger team and on the last climb Vingegaard lost his team support and had to try to beat Tadej and could not. Tadej took off at the three km. mark on a 10% gradient and put another 1/2 minute between him and Vingegaard, but Vingegaard put more time between himself and Evenepoel so he secured  second place assuming no further disasters.  The tour still must climb the Alps and Maritime Alps before they finish in Nice next Sunday.

I rode 1 1/2 miles on the stationary bike during the race and accumulated over 2600 steps today.

After the bike race ended at 9:00 we worked in the yard and then I ate a pain au chocolate with a latte macchiato and we watched the final of the Euro Cup, which Spain beat England with a second goal in the last two minutes.

Suzette made a tuna melt sandwich for brunch.

Then at 1:00 I made two salami and cheese sandwiches garnished with slices of onion and lettuce.

I rested after the Euro Cup.

At 5:30 I helped prep dinner by slicing more chard and kale using the chiffonade style of slicing and cubed 1/2 apple to reconstitute  the kale salad.

Suzette and I also took 7 bottles of wine to the cellar and I chilled a bottle of Ferme Julien Côtes du Rhône rose for dinner.

Willy came at 6:00 to watch the Copa America final but its’ start was delayed until 7:15 because mobs of ticketless fans were rushing the ticket booths  and it took a while to process all the ticket holders.

Suzette sautéed two smoked pork chops with slices of apple and re-heated some of the PPI Carmague and Jasmine rice mixture.

We enjoyed our dinner of kale salad, rice and sautéed pork chop and apple slices with glasses of rose.

Argentina and Colombia played a much more physical game than the earlier Spain v. England match.

The best part of the meal was the frangipane plum tarts we took home from the shell club meeting dinner.

Willy went home at the end of full time.

Finally in the 115th minute Argentina scored and won the Copa America for the third time in a row. Messi was subbed out in the 60th minute due to an ankle injury.

When the Copa match ended at 10:10 we went to bed.

Bon Appetit
