October 7, 2023 Brunch - Eggs, potatoes, onion, mushrooms, and chorizo Dinner - cheese and salami sandwiches, Vichyssoise, and goat cheese sandwich.
I woke up early and saw the horror of Hamas invading Israeli. It makes perfect sense. Iran does not want Israel to make ties with Saudi’s Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries in order to isolate Iran.
I then watched soccer and at 9:30 after Suzette left for work I made an egg, potatoes, onion, mushrooms, and chorizo scramble and ate it open faced on a toasted flour tortilla.
When Suzette came home at 2:00 she made a steak and egg burrito.
After she ate we drove to a new cheese shop named the Mouse Hole. It is wonderful. We tasted five or six cheeses and bought a 1/4 lb. of Brillat- Savarin and 1/3 lb. of a Spanish semi-soft cheese named Tetilla.
We then drove to Trader Joe’s where we bought chocolate, cognac, Delice cheese and Iberico cheese, plus nine bottles of wine, including three Palantir, a Cotes de Provence, a Carayon rose, a Chateauneuf de Pape, two Gruner Vitliners, and a Belle Vignes French Sauvignon Blanc.
We then went home and I watched some football.
I ate three toasted slices of baguette smeared with Delice and garnished with slices of salami with a glass of Olanna Reserva Rioja.
Most of the day we peeled and poached Quince while we watched TV.
Later we ate bowls of Vichyssoise and I ate a slice of Bosque Bakery Nine grain bread smeared with goat cheese and another glass of Rioja.
It was a lazy day unless you counted the massive amount of quince we peeled.
Suzette napped after we returned home and we went to bed at 9:00.
Rather uneventful except for the discovery of a new cheese shop in our neighborhood.
Bon Appetit
