October 17, 2023 Lunch - Monroe’s Dinner - Swedish Meatballs with Pasta and green beans and toasted almonds I awakened at 7:15 and listened to the news until 8:00 when I ate a bowl of granola with yogurt and milk and brandied strawberries. I then trimmed the rose bush on the patio and picked three nice roses and put them in a vase on the table. I then walked to the country club and back. I lay down for a few minutes and watch NVidia go down $25.00 after the US government prohibited it exporting its AI chips to China. The high tech sector was weak today, so it was a down day for my portfolio. At 10:30 I took a probate application to the County Probate Court. A wonderful thing happened when I met with the clerk. I noticed I had not typed the case number on the replacement application I was submitting and I said, “I think the case number is 2023-1258.” And it was, I am not losing my memory. I then called Peter Eller and agreed to pick him up and take him to lunch at Monroe’s. When we arrived we decided to sit on the patio. Peter ordered Carne adovado with Calabacitas and I ordered Eggs and Enchiladas with Calabacitas. We enjoyed our dishes and Peter packed up some of his and gave it to me. After lunch I went to Lowe’s and bought eggs and avocados. Then I went home and lay down and took a 1/2 hour nap. When I awakened at 3:30 I peeled quinces and watched the news until 5:00 when I meditated. After meditation Suzette was peeling quinces. I wanted to make Calabacitas so I sliced two zucchini, two Anaheim green chilis p, a yellow squash, and 1 1/2 onions. I put them in a pot with some water and a;T. of butter and boiled the pot for several hours. Suzette fetched the box with a Swedish Meatball dinner from the garage. Willy came at 6:30 to watch the US v. Ghana soccer match. Suzette sautéed the meatballs in a skillet and added the brown gravy to them. I opened the berry sauce that came with the dinner and a jar of lingonberry sylt from Sweden. Suzette snapped the green beans I bought at El Super last week and blanched them in a skillet and chopped a handful of almonds and sautéed the green beans with the chopped almonds and reheated the PPI pasta. I poured the Riesling Suzette had ordered and it was a bit fizzy and slightly sweet, so I drank the white vermouth willy had poured for me before dinner. We enjoyed dinner and Suzette commented on how easy I was to prepare. The US scored 4 goals on Ghana in the first 38 minutes so after dinner we watched the Mexico v. Germany match that was 2 to 2 for most of the second half and ended in a tie. Willy left and I ate a bowl of spumoni and we watched an episode of Lupin and then went to bed at 9:45. I stayed up to blog a bit. Bon Appetit

October 17, 2023 Lunch - Monroe’s   Dinner -  Swedish Meatballs with Pasta and green beans and toasted almonds

I awakened at 7:15 and listened to the news until 8:00 when I ate a bowl of granola with yogurt and milk and brandied strawberries.

I then trimmed the rose bush on the patio and picked three nice roses and put them in a vase on the table.

I then walked to the country club and back.  I lay down for a few minutes and watched NVidia go down $25.00 after the US government prohibited it exporting its AI chips to China.

The high tech sector was weak today, so it was a down day for my portfolio.

At 10:30 I took a probate application to the County Probate Court.

A wonderful thing happened when I met with the clerk.  I noticed that I had not typed the case number on the replacement application I was submitting and I said, “I think the case number is 2023-1258.”

And it was,  I felt great that I am not losing my memory.

I then called Peter Eller and agreed to pick him up and take him to lunch at Monroe’s.

When we arrived we decided to sit on the patio.  Peter ordered Carne adovado with Calabacitas and I ordered Eggs and Enchiladas with Calabacitas.

We enjoyed each of our dishes and Peter packed up some of his and gave it to me.

I wanted to make Calabacitas so I sliced two zucchini, two Anaheim green chilis, a yellow squash, and 1 1/2 onions.  I put them in a pot with some water and a T. of butter and boiled the pot for several hours.

I went to the garden and picked five stalks of oregano and plucked the leaves from the stems and added them to the Calabacitas.

We enjoyed dinner and Suzette commented on how easy I was to prepare.
