October 2, 2022 Brunch - BLT and egg sandwich. Dinner - Grilled Rib Steak with Baked Potato and Creamed Peas, Pearl Onions, and sliced mushrooms
I awakened at 7:30. Man City was already up 3 - 0 on Man U. Soi watched the news programs until 10:00. Then Leeds v. Aston Villa came on and I watched much of it. Neither team was particularly good and the match ended 0 - 0.
Suzette thawed two rib steaks, the bag of eight lamb chops, and a package of pork tenderloins.
Then at 11:00 the Cowboys v. Washington came on and I watched that game, which the Cowboys won.
The best game of the weekend was TCU beating Oklahoma on Saturday. I loved unranked TCU decimating OU 55-24.
Suzette made brunch around noon. It was a lovely BLT on whole wheat toast spread with basil mayonnaise and garnished with slices of tomato from our garden, slices of fried bacon, red lettuce leaves, and an egg pancake. A wonderful sandwich.
We walked around the block at 2:00 after the cowboys won.
Suzette spent much of the day working on billing.
Then we came home and rested until 5:00 when we got interested in dinner.
We decided to grill the steaks and bake potatoes and I asked Suzette to look in the freezer to see if she could create a vegetable dish.
She created a wonderful vegetable dish, English peas, pearl onions, and sliced mushrooms in a cream sauce flavored with nutmeg, fresh thyme, and truffle salt.
Suzette opened a baked potato and filled it with butter and sour cream.
So dinner had that creamy comfort food feeling.
The steak was cooked to medium rare and was delicious.
I opened an Australian 2001 Roxbury Estate Cabernet Sauvignon that was refined but full of sediment. The tasting notes mention flavors of cherries and plums n the front end and tannins on the finish, which seems about right.
We ate on the patio until the mosquitoes attacked.
We watched the new PBS Masterpiece Theater production at 8:00 titled Van Der Velk and went to bed at 10:00.
Bon Appetit
