October 16, 2022 Two new Recipes Brunch - Lamb and Goat Cheese Frittata. Dinner - Pasta with crab and Mushrooms in a white wine cream sauce
I awakened at 6:30 and watched PL soccer and the news shows until 10:00.
I then checked my tax returns and authorized Shahin to pay the additional tax payments.
We then made brunch. I sliced two PPI grilled lamb chops and two cloves of garlic while Suzette sliced onion and a PPI baked potato and fetched the new tube of creamy fresh goat cheese we bought at Costco last week.
Suzette whisked several eggs and then sautéed the ingredients to cook the onion and then added the other ingredients and heated them. Finally, Suzette added clumps of goat cheese and then cooked the top of the frittata in the oven.
We ate the lamb slices in the frittata with mint jelly. This was a huge amount of food because the two lamb chops must have yielded over 1/2 lb. of meat.
Suzette made her Sunday morning Bloody Mary and I drank chai.
I snacked on chocolate pudding at 5:00 and at 5:30 we walked around the block discussing dinner. We decided on cooking the rest of the fancy porcini and truffle pasta Melissa gave Suzette for her birthday and add the the 1 1/2 cups of crab meat we picked from the Dungeness crabs we ate on Wednesday.
I minced a shallot and sliced four white mushrooms and Suzette sautéed those two ingredients and then added white wine and heavy cream to make a quick cream sauce and tossed the cooked pasta in the sauce.
Finally she grated Pecorino-Romano cheese on top of the pile of pasta and crab in cream sauce to finish the dish.
I had chilled a bottle of 2021 Grigio Luna Pinot Grigio delle Venezia rose DOCC, which we drank with dinner (Trader Joe’s). It has a light soft taste that did not conflict with the food and helped digest it.
I must admit that the addition of cream to the sauce obscured both the truffle and the crab flavors for me. Next time I will vote for a simpler and lighter white wine, garlic, olive oil, and parsley sauce.
After dinner we drank the last two glasses of the rose and it was pleasant without food also.
Later while we watched the two new PBS Masterpiece series episodes I drank a sniffer of Calvados with two Belgium chocolates.
We went to bed at 10:00.
After lunch Suzette worked in the camper van, painting the cabinet fronts white and removing the last few blinds. Later she did a bit of sewing to repair three of her favorite garments that needed some help.
Suzette also found an old table cloth to use to make curtains to cover the windows of the camper.
Soon we will have a fully functioning camper except for the side rear view mirrors for which there are no motors to alter their positioning.
Bon Appetit
