April 1, 2020 Lunch – Vietnamese Miso Noodle Soup with
Pork Sausage and Pork ribs. Dinner – PPI Pot Roast with Mashed Potatoes

Every day brings a new adventure in our changing world in the grip of the corona virus.  For us the new adventure was the receipt of deliveries of groceries from two supermarkets, Sprouts and El Super, by Instacart, an on line food shopping and delivery service.  You pick the item and quantity on line and pay for it with a credit card and on the designated day a Instacart shopper goes to the store and shops for the items you selected and drives them to your house and delivers the groceries to you.

Although not every item was in stock, I was impressed by the quality of the items we received and the thing that impressed me the most was that you could order items that were on special.

We will probably not go shopping until next Tuesday now that we are re-provisioned.

I ate tropical fruit salad, with yogurt, and granola for breakfast, my favorite biodynamic breakfast.

At 12:30 I made a pot of Vietnamese Miso Noodle soup with a minced shallot, a couple of bok Choy leaves diced, a mushroom sliced, 4 oz. of firm tofu cubed, , a heaping T. of red miso, about a tsp. of dried pulse seaweed, 1 tsp. of dehydrated chicken stock, three kinds of noodles, some BBQ pork from the PPI ribs from last night’s meal and ½ of a cooked PPI pork bratwurst, plus ½ tsp. of sesame oil, 1 tsp. of salsa verde Penny and Armin Rembe brought us from Los Poblanos and about 1 T. of Chinese Cooking wine.  After cooking for about twenty to thirty minutes the soup developed a rich flavorful broth and all the ingredients were cooked.  Suzette and I each ate two bowls with a squirt of Hoisin Sauce.

We decided two days ago to eat the PPI pot roast Suzette made several days ago.  I peeled and cubed the last 2 lb. of Yukon Gold potatoes and put them in water in a pot open the fridge overnight and this evening at 6:00 I started them boiling. Then Suzette mashed them in the Kitchen Aid with butter and cream.  They were really delicious.  We heated the pot roast and Suzette made plates up with a handful of spinach leaves on the bottom, then a pile of potatoes, and finally several scoops of beef stew.

I deemed it a special meal deserving a special wine so I fetched a bottle of De Ponte Cellars 2015 Lonesome Rock Ranch Pinot Noir.  I was an exceptional smooth as silk with no after taste and after 90 minutes, a hint of grapevines and plums.  I am a member of the De Ponte Cellars wine club, so receive a 15% discount from the retail price of $35.00.

Willy came by during dinner to pick up his groceries and a to go dinner of beef stew and mashed potatoes and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.

I was good to see Willy. He did not join us for dinner and  was keeping his distance as we talked because he was with someone who was exposed to the virus by someone else.

After dinner I toasted several slices of French dinner roll and ate some brie cheese from Isnigy in Normandy bought at Costco.  The wine was delicious with the cheese also.

Later I made a fresh cup of tea using an Earl Grey tea bag and a bag of chai seasoning and three a Danish butter cookies.

Bon Appetit
