July 6, 2018 Lunch - Super Salad and Pate’ Sandwiches  Dinner – Beer Cooked and Braised Bratwursts with onions and steamed asparagus

Our fridge has been on the fritz.  Our repairman assures us it needs new computer motherboards.  We put in the second set today and it is still not working properly.  Hopefully the third time will be the charm on Monday or Tuesday.  Luckily we still have our garage fridge and the freezer compartment appears still be working, but it has made it difficult to cook and definitely dampened our enthusiasm for cooking.

So today for breakfast I re-heated the PPI smoked pork chop and sautéed a sliced green onion and then fried two eggs for a simple high protein breakfast.

For lunch I tried to use up as many produce items as I could from the fridge, since it is not cooling properly.  I started with a pile of romaine lettuce and added two Roma tomatoes diced, ½ of a cucumber halved lengthwise and sliced, a pickled egg sliced, two green onions sliced, ¼ cup of crumbled feta, and dressed with Caesar Salad dressing.  I also cur a piece of fullkorns bread in half, buttered each slice, and smeared each with duck pate’.

I drank water and watched the Belgium v. Brazil game, which has been the best World Cup match so far.  Belgium won 2-1.

The market shuck off its concerns of a tariff war for one day with a good jobs report.  My portfolio increased by 1% due to an upgrade of Apple and a rise in the price of oil.  I just need seven more days like today this year to meet my goal of a 10% return.

Suzette came home at 5:00 and had a discussion with Jesse, her refrigeration guy, who is fixing the fridge (I hope).

We then went to Civil Plaza to view the Photographs of art from the Prada Museum in Madrid.  There are 92 photographs of works of art, so it took an hour to view all of them.  Afterwards we returned home and cooked dinner.  Suzette has a special way of cooking bratwurst.  She first simmers then in beer and when the beer evaporates, she adds butter and sautés then until their skins turn brown.  Tonight we sautéed slices of Vidalia onion with the brats until golden brown.  We also made steamed asparagus for a lovely dinner.

We watched TV and went to bed at 10:00 after the British
 Baking Challenge.

Bon Appetit
