July 15, 2018 Lunch – Museum Hill Café. Dinner – Faux Paella

July 15, 2018 Lunch – Museum Hill Café. Dinner – Faux Paella

We did not sleep well. I woke up at 6:00 but was unable to find the Tour de France on the TV.  I showered and dressed and at 7:00 watched CNN news.  We walked over to the Kiva Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, which is under new management by a nice Mexican couple.  We asked the husband who ran the front to switch the channel on the TV in the restaurant to soccer and found the Tour de France with five miles to go, so I was able to see the finish.  I ordered a two egg breakfast with whole wheat bread and sausage.  Suzette was even more adventurous and ordered enchilada eggs with chorizo mixed into the hash brown potatoes.  Her dish was delicious.

We then returned to the room and watched the final match of the World Cup between France and Croatia.  France won 4-2.

We then drove to KTAO for the flea market. I bought an 1893 Colombian Exposition commemorative fifty cent piece for $15.00.

We then drove to Santa Fe to the Folk Art show.  We arrived about 1:30 and shopped until 4:30 with a break for me to eat some lunch at 3:00 at the Museum Hill Café.  They have a special chef and menu for the Folk Art Show. I ordered the grill salmon filet with garden greens and a pineapple, mango pico de Gallo Salsa.  It was delicious.  Suzette was not hungry and shopped while I ate until she tripped and bruised her knee.  She limbed back to the table.  The waiter brought her ice cubes in a napkin and she iced her knee and we ordered two glasses of Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc which was a little oaky but pleasant.

After lunch I ordered a piece of pistachio cardamum cake with lots of sweetened whipped cream on top.  After we ate the cake and paid, we went back to shopping.  Suzette took me to a booth that made items from discarded steel barrels.  We bought a large round tray with a leaf design carved into it for $57.50, which was ½ price.  Suzette also bought four pairs of shoes.

We drove back to Albuquerque, tired but happy and arrived home at 6:00.  We lay down and watched 60 Minutes and the Suzette mentioned dinner.

She diced the last smoked pork cutlet and we thawed and peeled and sectioned six or seven large shrimp.  I fetched the three mussels from the freezer in the garage and a Suzette added those to the skillet plus a handful of frozen peas and a container of PPI Couscous with spinach.  In essence we created a faux paella or a Couscous with seafood that was very delicious.

Suzette drank the last of the Cotes de Provence rose and I opened a bottle of Benton Lane rose and drank two glasses of it.

We watched some of the Tour de France stage 9 which was on the cobblestone roads of northern France.  It was a brutal day with lots of accidents and general disarray while ate.

Then we watched a Masterpiece Theater’s Endeavour and went to bed at 9:00

Bon Appetit
