December 17, 2023 Brunch - Sausage with Cinnamon Bread French Toast Snack - Posole. Dinner at Ruth’s

December 17, 2023 Brunch - Sausage with Cinnamon Bread French Toast Snack - Posole. Dinner at Ruth’s

I awakened at 6:30 and watched the Arsenal beat Brighton 2 to 0 and then Liverpool play to a draw with Man.

At 10:00 Suzette made French toast with the cinnamon bread we bought at Pastian’s a week ago. The cake like texture of the cinnamon bread enhanced the flavor of the French Toast and I loved the thick sautéed sausage patties with the French Toast.

I watched the parent and child golf tournament that Bernard Langer and his son who was captain of the Univ. of Pennsylvania golf team won handily and some NFL football. The only close game was the Bengals v. The Bears that was tied with less than a minute to play.

I made tropical fruit salad with a papaya,na pineapple, four mangos, and two oranges as I watched TV today.

I also cooked the pot of Posole all day and added salt, coriander, oregano, and water.

At 2:00 we packed a bottle with tropical fruit salad and dropped it off at Susan Palmer’s at the beginning of our 1 mile walk in the neighborhood.

When we returned we showered and dressed for Ruth’s dinner party.

We took a Palantir white for dinner, a bottle of Gruet Pink Sauvage for Melissa, a bottle of artisanal vinegar for  Cynthia and Ricardo, a Chocolste orange for Willy, and bottles of homemade mint jelly and Maraschino cherries for Ruth.

Cynthia and Ricardo arrived about 30 minutes after us with three good appetizers, tuna salad, an artichoke dip, cream cheese garnished with green chili jellyand an olive medley.  Ruth had made, which were really delicious.

Ruth made us Poinsetta cocktails with cranberry juice, triple sec, and champagne and after a few sips I took a glass of champagne.

After we sipped drinks, ate appetizers, and talked for about twenty minutes the entree was served.

Dinner was a seafood Newburg casserole containing shrimp and crab in a heavy creamy sauce with a rather picante flavor of paprika. Also a lovely, pomegranate, pecan, goat cheese, with gourmet greens was served to each place setting.

United.

There were 7 of us, Ruth and Melissa, willy, Cynthia and Ricardo, Willy and Suzette and me.

We gathered around the dining room table after serving ourselves the seafood casserole.

We drank the Palantir and a bottle of Scott Sauvignon Blanc.

After the Entre Suzette served small parfait bowls filled with vanilla ice cream and red wine cooked gala apple balls.

We then exchanged gifts.

At 9:30 we were given a container of seafood casserole as we said goodnight.

Willy drove us home and then left.

Suzette drank a sip of cognac and I drank a cup of chai with two Belgium chocolates and a sip of Calvados.

Suzette went to bed at 10:00 and I stayed up to write this blog entry.

Bon Appetit
