May 17, 2022 Lunch - Padilla’s Chile Relleno plate. Dinner - Poke Marinated Halibut skewers served on Poke Seasoned Stir Fried Steamed Broccoli, Shiitak mushrooms, and Shallot

Before Suzette left I butchered ancubed the halibut steak and Suzette made Poke with green onions, ginger, soy, oyster sauce, toasted cashews, and sesame oil and we put the halibut cubes into the marinade.

After Suzette left I toasted two slices of bagel for breakfast and spread them with cream cheese and garnished them with slices of Manchego cheese, ham and salami with two dill pickles.

I worked until 12:00, when I napped until 12:45.  I then drove to Smith’s where I bought shallots, hand cream, milk, and cream cheese.

I then called in a take out order for a Chile Relleno plate to Padilla’s on Girard.

When I returned home I heated a large flour tortilla and ate one of the two rellenos garnished with rice, beans, green Chile and cheese plus a few chips with a glass of root beer.

The toasted tortilla filled with Relleno, rice, and beans

After lunch I checked the Market and was pleasantly surprised that it was up over 4%, but unfortunately it is still below the level of December 2020.

I lay down at 4:00 and napped until Suzette awakened me at 6:00 to start cooking dinner.

We decided to stir fry the remaining fresh shiitake mushrooms, with steamed broccoli and a shallot.  I minced three cloves of garlic, 1 T. of ginger, and one shallot and quartered and added the remaining seven or eight small shiitake mushrooms to heated sesame and peanut oil in my wok.  Then we steamed two heads of broccoli flowerets and added them to the wok.  We had intended to add a container of PPI rice but it had spoiled so we added the remaining poke marinade and ate dinner without rice.

Willy arrived at 6:15.

When the skewers of halibut were grilled to perfection Suzette filled pasta bowls with the stir fried vegetables and then added grilled halibut poke. We sautéed black sesame seeds and garnished the dish with them.

We drank water and ate outside under the gazebo.

It was a good dinner that would have been better with rice and even some seaweed salad that we also forgot to add to the plates.

This was not as good as last night’s dinner a la Stanley Tucci.

Suzette went to Trader Joe’s today and bought a bag of amazing Italian pasta that resembled the pasta that was served with the wild boar spaghetti sauce in “Searching for Italy” and a good bottle of Italian wine, so we can have a romantic dinner tomorrow night as close to what Stanley experienced in the show on Umbria last Sunday as possible.

After dinner Suzette served limoncello and then I ate two cookies with a cup of tea to add some carbs.

Bon Appetit
