February 6, 2022 Lunch - Popcorn Dinner - Lobster and Oyster Bisque baked in Puff Pastry and Grilled Asparagus
We awakened and watched the news programs and then left Taos at 10:30.
I ate 1/2 of a salami sandwich and Suzette ate the uneaten half of my Martyr’s tenderloin salad and we shared a bowl of potato chips as we drove.
I drove non-stop to Costco, where we shopped and re-filled the tank.
At Costco we bought a bag of Godiva dark chocolate hearts, a bag of large asparagus, two French Baguettes, and 3 lb. bag of roasted Pistachios.
Then we stopped at Lowe’s for milk and puff pastry.
We were happy to be home. I showered and shaved and put on my pajamas.
Suzette suggested eating popcorn and watching the episode of Around the World in 80 Days, so we could catch up on the episode we missed.
We also watched the missed episode of All Creatures Great and Small.
At 5:00 Suzette heated the Lobster Bisque we had bought at Costco a week ago and added chopped oysters and lay a layer of puff pastry on top and baked it in the oven in French onion soup crocks after she heated the soup on the stove.
Suzette also made Lingonberry turnovers and grilled a handful of the lovely large fresh asparagus that she had coated with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Suzette opened the bottle of Gavi white wine that was complex and matched the complexity of the soup.
When the puff pastry had baked to a golden brown we poked holes in the center of the top and poured in a T. of Amontillado sherry to flavor it the way Dobson’s Bar and Restaurant in San Diego prepares and serves its mussel bisque.
We watched some Olympics and 60 Minutes until 7:00 when our favorite Sunday shows came on, Around the World in 80 Days, All Creatures Great and Small, and Vienna Blood.
Suzette went to bed at 10:00 but I watched the Olympics until 11:00 and the blogged this entry.
We loved relaxing and catching up on our favorite programs.
We have discovered PBS Passport that shows old episodes is available on cable, so we will not miss any more episodes.
Bon Appetit
