October 3, 2021 Lunch - Kitsune Dinner - chicken Sandwiches

October 3, 2021 Lunch - Kitsune   Dinner - chicken Sandwiches

Today was a day of relaxation.  I started by watching Liecester play Crystal Palace to a 2 - 2 tie.  Then we drove to Costco to shop. Suzette bought a number of things for the Center and we bought crab, trout, brie, eggs, nine bottles of Gruet champagne, asparagus, Godiva chocolates, Yukon gold potatoes, sausage, French baguette, pita chips, and coffee for the house.

We then went home and put up the items that needed refrigeration and then drove to the Tap Room for lunch with Willy.

We sat on the patio in the sun.  There were tables but no umbrellas to shade the tables.

The tap room shares the space with Kitsune, an oriental fusion food truck operation that has opened a permanent location at the tap room.

Suzette ordered a lager and a pulled pork lettuce wrap.  I ordered an apple cider and a rice bowl with Korean Fried Chicken on rice with a spicy Korean sauce and bean sprouts.  Willy ordered Thai green curry flavored French fries garnished with a crumble of a soft cheese and a vodka drink

We enjoyed the warm afternoon and talked to some folks from Indiana who were visiting for the balloon fiesta.

We then went home and I rested while Suzette worked.  At 6:00 we watched a documentary on Elon Musk until 8:00 when we watched a new episode of Grantchester.  I made chicken sandwiches on toasted slices of the fresh French bread we bought at Costco.  I spread Mayo and mustard on the bread and then lay a lettuce leaf, slices of Iberico cheese and a slice of roasted chicken breast.  After the horrible meal at Scalo’s last night, the simple joy of a slice of well roasted chicken, a few slices of a wonderful Cheese on fresh French baguette with a bit of Mayo and Dijon mustard was a joy.

I opened the 2013 Wellington Roussanne. It had lost its fruit and was a bit musty, but still tasted good with the chicken sandwiches.

At 9:00 Suzette went to bed and I watched the last of the Patriots vs Buccaneers football and an amazingly torturous Paris-Roubaix bike race that was won in a sprint by the Italian champion, Sonny Cobrelli.  Much of the race is on cobbles in northern France and Southern Belgium and there had been rain which made the cobbles muddy and slippery.  This year the bike race earned its slogan title, “The Hell of the North” in spades.

After the race I went to bed at 10:30.

Bon Appetit
