October 10, 2021 Lunch - Taj Mahal Dinner - PPI Crab Soufflé with a Caprese Salad

October 10, 2021 Lunch - Taj Mahal   Dinner - PPI Crab Soufflé with a Caprese Salad

I did not eat breakfast, but Suzette ate yogurt and blueberries.

I worked from 11:00 to 1:00 with Karim and Johal.

Then we decided to go to Taj Mahal for lunch.  Karim, Suzette, and I took the buffet.  Mohan ate a small plate of chick pea Dahl and ordered a basket of culcha naan.

Suzette and I found the food to be overly spicy to the point that it was not pleasant to eat, but we ate most of it anyway.  Even Mohan mentioned that the food was spicy.  I tried tandoori chicken, chicken curry, meat balls saag and yellow squash curry.  It is the first time my confidence in the food at Taj Mahal has been shaken.

After lunch we went to Smiths to buy two salmon fillets to make Gravad lax and two avocados.

Then we drove to Home Depot so Suzette could buy some items for the Center.  When we returned home we walked 2/ 3 mile and then picked basil to make basil Mayo.

Suzette made basil mayonnaise by processing basil leaves, garlic, and lemon juice.  We now have enough to last the winter.

Tomorrow I will pick and chop some tarragon and make tarragon mustard tomorrow, as well as more Gravad lax.

After she finished making the basil Mayo, Suzette fetched a chilled bottle of Buttonwood Riesling, one of the rieslings we bought on our trip to the Finger Lakes in New York last April. It was moderately dry which made it a perfect complement to the crab soufflé that had contracted and become more dense and more pronouncedly crabby and eggy overnight in the fridge.

I sliced two and 1/2 tomatoes and interspersed layers of tomato, thinly sliced red onion, basil leaves, and slices of fresh mozzarella to make a Caprese salad.  Suzette made her usual balsamic vinegar and olive oil dressing that I drizzled over the salad.

Suzette warmed the crab soufflé carefully to prevent it from toughening and we ate a lovely dinner with a truly wonderful wine.  It reminded me of sitting on the deck at Buttonwood Winery tasting their great wines while looking at Lake Seneca when we bought this wine.  What a thrill to taste the wine again with a wonderful crab soufflé.

After dinner we watched Grantchester and then the football match between Buffalo and Kansas City and two of the most nimble Quarterbacks in professional football, Josh Allen for Buffalo and Mahones for KC.  Buffalo won in a downpour.

We also watched some of the Chicago White Sox’ 12 to 6 victory over the Houston Astros.

Suzette went to bed at 10:00 and I followed at 11:00 when I finished this blog entry.

Bon Appetit
