October 1, 2021 Lunch - Scallop and fish ball Miso Noodle Soup. Dinner - Roasted Chicken.

October 1, 2021 Lunch - Scallop and fish ball Miso Noodle Soup. Dinner - Roasted Chicken.

This was another day without breakfast. I worked from 8:00 until noon.  Then I heated the PPI Scallop and fish ball Miso Noodle Soup and ate it.

Then I worked until 4:30 mostly unsuccessfully trying to get my computer to scan.

I then walked 1/2 mile and returned at 5:15. It was still pleasantly cool at 5:00 in the afternoon.

Suzette arrived with a roasted chicken at 5:30.

The Roasted Chicken minus the leg quarters

We each tore off a leg quarter and that was our dinner because we needed to get ready for the symphony. I got dressed and we left by 6:15.  We first drove to the gallery at 11th and Mountain and picked up the Ann Dunbar dress Suzette had bought two or three weeks ago.

Then we drove to UNM.  It was raining so we parked in the parking garage and crossed the mall to Popejoy Auditorium.  We were an hour early so we passed through the Covid protocol quickly and heard most of the lecture on the new piano and the Beethoven Concert No 3 for piano and Symphony No. 5, which is probably the best known piece of classical music.

We enjoyed getting out of the house and hearing live music again.

Olga Kern was brilliant as the soloist for the Concerto No. 3 for piano.  She helped select the grand piano and clearly was thrilled to play it for the concert.  Her dexterity was amazing.  Tonight she played like the person who won the Van Cliburn Quadrennial in 2001.

At intermission we said hello to Nancy who told Jan and us that the Steinway concert piano cost $173,000.  They contributed because Cliff was on the piano committee.

After the 5th Symphony ended we returned home and I watched Ari Velshi fill in for Rachel and drank a shot of grappa, then ate a bowl of Mocha Almond fudge ice cream with rum and Kahlua, and finally drank a cup of chai.  Suzette had her usual sip of cognac.

Suzette went to bed at 10:30 but I stayed up to blog and read.

Bon Appetit
