July 8, 2021 Lunch - PPI Beef Stroganoff. Dinner - Garlic Eggplant with Teriyaki Salmon and Rice
I started the day by eating 1/2 of a blueberry muffin and then rode 5 or 6 miles to I-40 and back at 8:00.
Then I showered dressed and worked until 1:20 when I ate the last of the beef stroganoff with the last glass of Polonius red wine chilled with a few cubes of ice.
I watched the market weaken toward the close and when I checked my portfolio after 2:00 I had a disheartening loss in value of 1.1%. Let’s hope this is not the beginning of a major adjustment. The loss only erased the last five days’ gain as the indices have kept hitting all time high closings recently, so I should not be terribly glum.
The bike race spoiled a sprint finish for Mark Cavendish, as 13 strong riders broke away early and were ahead of the peloton by 11 to 14 minutes for most of the day. The winner, Pollick, jumped off the front of the breakaway group at 11 km. from the finish and won by 38 seconds ahead of the next two riders, who were also left with the breakaway. Nothing changed in the overall standings for the yellow Jersey or green Jersey but Mark Cavendish was denied the chance to win a sprint stage because he stayed in the peloton and missed the breakaway.
I meditated from 5:00 to 5:30 and then had a cocktail and discussed dinner with Suzette. We finally settled on making Suzette’s favorite Chinese dish, Garlic Eggplant and adding onion, garlic, ginger, broccoli and the tail sections of the teriyaki salmon we saved from the grilling on Monday.
I did not love the dish, but Suzette did because it combined an ingredient she loved, teriyaki marinated salmon, with her favorite Chinese dish, Garlic Eggplant.
Suzette heated the rice left from my lunch with Mike yesterday and I fetched a bottle 6of sake from the basement and poured us glasses of sake chilled with ice cubes.
We watched Rachel Maddow and then an old episode of Midsomer Mystery and Suzette went to bed at 9:30 and I followed at 10:30 after writing this blog entry.
Bon Appetit
