February 22, 2024 Breakfast - custard, almond, and chocolate croissant. Lunch - Thai Palm in Desert Edge. Dinner at Debbie’s - Grilled steak and Asparagus with Tomato Salad
Today was wonderful. Suzette heated a pistachio and a custard, almond, and chocolate croissant for breakfast. The croissants were regular croissants butterflied and filled with the three ingredients that were also extruded on top. They were lovely and very well filled that the ingredients.
We then drove to Sam’s Resort in Desert Edge out in the barren valley about Twenty miles South of Palm Springs.
There are 23 hot and cold springs in the area and a small town.
Sam’s Resort is a trailer Park with many permanent dwellings and a well developed set of pools ranging from 99 degrees to 104 degrees and a large swimming pool and a duck pond that I suspect is a waste water treatment pond. We checked in and went to the 99 degree pool that felt closer to 98 degrees to me. We soaked 40 minutes and I felt great. This was the best mineral water I have encountered in years. It is high in silica but not too high, around 37 % and a lot of trace minerals of lesser percentages and no sulphur or soda, so a very soft pleasant mineral water that smooths and heals your skin.
I loved it.
At 12:45 we drove the 11 miles to the Thai Palm restaurant in the town of Desert Edge. It offered an extensive Thai menu, but to play it safe and compare it to other restaurants, we ordered Pad Thai with pork.
The Pad Thai was delicious with lots of softly cooked mung bean sprouts and sautéed crisped crunchy bits of pork.
After lunch we drove back to Sam’s and around 2:30 Luke and Ari arrived. I was tired and rested but Suzette and Luke and Ari went to soak in the cool pool.
At 3:30 we left and drove to Trader Joe’s where Suzette bought a container of burrata.
When we arrived at Debbie’s Suzette took a shower and I rested for a few minutes when Mary Lynn and Cheryl arrived for drinks and dinner with a lovely marinara pizza that we ate slices of on the patio.
We sat out on the patio for a while and then I went to the kitchen and made a salad with red leaf and bibb lettuce, carrot threads, white onion slices and a balsamic and olive oil dressing with salt. I also sliced three tomatoes and Suzette helped me make a plate with burrata surrounded by tomato wedges drizzled with olive oil.
I also rinsed and dried the two filets and salted and peppered them and snapped the 12 asparagus and drizzled them with olive oil and salt and paper and put them on a piece of aluminum foil.
Then Suzette grilled the steaks and asparaguses and I opened the Tertre de Moulin St. Emillon Grande cru and fetched three glasses.
When the steaks and asparagus were cooked. I sliced the steaks and we each served ourselves salad, steak, and asparagus And I poured wine for Cheryl, Suzette, and me and we had a delicious dinner.
After dinner Suzette, Debbie, and I ate a chocolate chip cookie.
Mary Lynn and Cheryl left at 8:00 and by 8:30 we were in bed.
I fell asleep quickly tonight after 4000 steps.
Bon Appetit
