February 14, 2024 Lunch - Duck Salad. Valentine Day Dinner Grilled Rib Steak and Asparagus with Egg Noodle with Mushrooms, Shallot, Garlic and two cheeses
It was a busy day of work, with a nice Valentine’s Day Dinner in front of the fire and a romantic movie.
It also was a surprising good day for my portfolio. Although the Dow was down 165 points, Apple and Nvidia were up over $3.00, Meta was up over $8.00 and my portfolio was up 1.3%, being now 1.4% away from a new all time high.
I ate a bowl of granola, milk, mango yogurt, and blueberries at 9:30 and thawed a rib steak.
I then worked until 1:20 and then made a salad with romaine lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, and green cracked olives. I toasted three slices of baguette and melted slices of brie cheese on the slices in the microwave. Before I finished the salad Suzette arrived and finished the salad.
I watched the market close and then went back to work until 4:00 when I watched Ari. At 5:30 we started preparing dinner.
Dinner
Suzette boiled a handful of egg noodles.
I minced a shallot and 4 small cloves of garlic and cubed five portobello mushrooms. I opened a can of with a pimiento and sliced it. Then I cubed the last of our Racalette and most of the tallegio cheese and Suzette grilled the steak and asparagus and then tossed the noodles, mushrooms, garlic, cheeses, and shallot. I sliced the steak and we served ourselves pasta, asparagus and steak and enjoyed a really good meal, except the steak had been frozen since 2021 and so tasted a bit of the freezer, although it seemed to be aged.
I opened a bottle of 2018 Carpineto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Toscano Reserva rated 97/100 by Wine Spectator. “An ethereal bouquet of violets, cherries, and wood fills the nose. On the palate, it is dry, harmonious, and fruity with a velvety, elegant texture and a long finish.”
Suzette liked the wine a lot and I thought it was lovely with the steak and woodsy mushroom studded pasta.
After dinner we watched a Netflix movie titled, Dolce Villa, and sipped Germain Robin Old Havana cognac and shared a slice of flourless chocolate torte baked at the Greenhouse Bistro for its Valentine Day dinner. I drank a cup of Earl Grey tea.
We went to bed around 10:00.
Bon Appetit
