February 19, 2025 Lunch - Granola with milk, Tropical fruit salad and Mango yogurt. Dinner - Chicken Salad and Brie on Baguette.
Today was a strange day. It was filled with activity and inactivity.
I awakened at 8:00 and dressed and started making Tropical fruit salad, peeling, slicing, and dicing a papaya, a pineapple, two mangoes and three oranges (my usual recipe) and then the juice of two limes.
I got packed around 10:00 and packed food in the morning for our trip to California.
I packed the chicken salad and fruit salad in separate plastic containers.
I bagged the chocolate chip cookies and Suzette packed the dates and I packed an apple, an orange, a bag of potato chips, a chocolate croissant, a popcorn, dates, the baguettes, several fig bars, and my knife in the dry goods.
Then we packed the brie, the chicken salad, the fruit salad, a bottle of 2022 Petit Freylon White Bordeaux, a Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon blend plus a package of Boursin, two beers and several waters in the cooler.
At 1:00 we left on our trip. We drove on I - 40 west to Flagstaff and then South on I - 17 to Arcosanti, a hour north of Phoenix, munching on potato chips and chocolate chip cookies as we drove the 5 1/2 hours.
We arrived at dusk and it was dark by the time we dragged our gear up to the bedroom.
We unpacked the chicken salad, the brie, the baguettes, the dates, and opened the wine. I slices three slices of baguette and we ate forkfuls of chicken salad and I sliced the brie and made brie sandwiches and poured glasses of the white wine and we had a lovely light dinner.
The ceiling
After dinner at 7:30 we walked up some stairs to a dark spot, of which there are many and observed the stars and the Milky Way, finding Orion, the Seven Sisters, and the Big Dipper.
At 8:00 we returned to our room and read and blogged.
Bon Appetit
