February 16, 2025 Brunch - Sausage, Egg, Potatoes, and cheese Tostado. Snack - Herring in Wine sauce on sour cream and red onion.  Dinner - Baked Chicken and Potatoes with Sautéed Snow Peas and Mushrooms

I woke up at 6:00 and blogged yesterday’s entry. At 7:00 I watched Liverpool beat the Wolves 2 to 0, which was to be expected. At 8:00 I ate a chocolate croissant with a cup of tea.

I then watched Tottenham beat Man Union 2 to 1.

At 9:30 we made breakfast, I sliced onions and the last piece of Tallegio cheese and Suzette cubed potatoes and sautéed the potatoes with sausage and the onion. She then added whisked eggs and I lay the slices of cheese on the eggs.  Suzette covered the skillet with my wok to steam the ingredients and melt the cheese. She then wrapped five corn tortillas in a wet hand towel and heated them in the microwave to heat them. She then served the sautéed mixture on tortillas and sprinkled the dish with heated Jose’s red sauce as is served at the Shed. I heated a cup of tea and Suzette made a Bloody Mary

Then I worked from 10:30 to 11:30

At 11:30 we took three cases of bottles and some newspapers to the recycling center and then drove to Costco where we bought three bottles of Côtes du Rhône for $6.99 each, red chili for Debbie, batteries, salted potato chips, flashlights, and baguettes.

We then drove to Home Depot where Suzette bought insulation for a construction project at the Center, after which we drove home.

I worked from 2:30 until 6:00 with a break at 4:00 to eat a toasted slice of seeded rye bread spread with sour cream and garnished with thin slices of red onion and herring in wine sauce.

While I was working Suzette baked four chicken thighs stuffed with lemon slices and dusted with herbs de Provence on a bed of potatoes.

Suzette’s natural allegiance is to potatoes, while mine is to rice.

I had chilled a 2018 Gruet Chenin Blanc that was a little over the hill, so we added a handful of ice cubes to our glasses and drank it.

Suzette snapped snow peas and I cleaned 2 oz. of white beech mushrooms and Suzette sautéed those two ingredients in butter with two cloves of garlic.

The outer skin area of the chicken was a little over the hill also, Suzette squeezed lemon juice over it, which made it more edible.  The inside of the chicken thighs were soft and running clear juices even though the thermometer read an internal temperature of 178 degrees.

After Dinner we drank the last of the Chenin Blanc and then I sipped some cognac with the last three slices of Terry’s milk chocolate orange, as we watched SNL’s 50th Anniversary show.

Suzette went to bed at 9:30 and I stayed up until 11:30 to watch Paris Murders and blog this entry.

Bon Appetit
