May 13, 2025 Lunch - cheese and salami and wine with Keith  Dinner - Reheated PPi Lamb Chop with Asparagus stuffed potato Pancakes

I slept until 9:15 and at 10:00 I ate my usual breakfast of granola, mango yogurt, milk and tropical fruit salad.

This was an another amazing day in the market with a rise of 2.8% that left my portfolio 9% from its all time high, up from 16% away four days ago.  I am still in pain but acceptable pain, not catastrophic pain like a week ago.

At 1:30 I ate a fig bar with a glass of orange juice. Then I cut roses and filled two vases. I had chilled a bottle of Calstar 2014 Sangiacamo for Keith’s intended visit.

Keith arrived around 2:20 and I opened the wine that was a leaker and discovered it had started to oxidize and was rough tasting after I poured glasses for Keith, Suzette, and me.

So I went to the basement and fetched a Calstar 2015 Opperlander that was fantastic soft mellow with an elegant finish.

I put some brie, slices of Jarlsberg and Oaxacan string cheese on a plate with Moroccan dried olives and salami. Suzette fetched the Carr water biscuits.

Keith and I talked about all manner of things for 2 hours and then Suzette joined us for 1/2 hiour.

After Keith left at 5:00 we watched the news and at 7:00 Suzette began cooking while I watched “finding your roots”.

Suzette chopped up the PPI roasted potatoes and four asparagus and  onion.  She sautéed the onion and asparagus and then combined those ingredients with the chopped potatoes, salt, eggs, and white pepper.

She sautéed four potato pancakes and reheated a grilled lamb chop and I poured glasses of the   Pinot Noir Keith had brought that he bought from Naked Wines.

I watched hockey playoffs, Dallas Stars v. Winnipeg Jets and the NBA playoff game between Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City. Dallas and Oklahoma City won putting each one game from advancing to their league finals.

I also watched a great train rides episode on a train from Winnipeg to Churchill on Hudson Bay which the episode claimed is the best place in North America to see Polar Bears and the Northern Lights.

I went to bed at 10:30 and blogged this entry.

Bon Appetit
