January 6, 2020 Brunch – Ham, Mushroom, and cheese Omelet   Late

Lunch  – Posole and a tamale. Dinner – PPI Garlic Eggplant with Rice

Food and the Market were of secondary interest today as the world witnessed in real time President Trump’s attempt to steal the election by insurrection and political shenanigans.

He has falsely claimed for months before the November 3 Election Day that if he lost it would be by fraud.  Then during the debates he told his activist followers to demonstrate to reopen the economies which created riots of armed men and women in state capital buildings.  Then during the debates when asked what he would tell the Proud Bois what to do, he said “Stand Back and Stand ready”. Then after the election he invited his supporters to Washington yesterday for a Wild rally in Washington. Yesterday was the day that the electoral college votes were scheduled to be counted.  12 senators and 140 Congressmen planned to object to counting the votes of 6 states which would extend the process by over 12 hours from the scheduled begin of the vote at 1:00.

Before 1:00 the President and his sons whipped up the crowd of his supporters and shortly before 1:00 President told the crowd to march on the Capitol to take control of the Capitol, which they did. Apparently the protesters had been saying on the internet for some time, “We will cross the Rubicon on January 6.”  So Trump and his supporters planned the whole thing, it appears to me.

On the other side Rudy Giuliani was trying to get Congressmen and Senators to object to as many states’ electoral votes as possible.  There were plans to object to as many as ten states’s votes, but after the insurrection there were only two objections, except for a hilarious unsuccessful attempt to make an objection by Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas.

We made a lovely ham, mushroom, and Swiss Gruyere cheese omelet for breakfast.

Then I ate two bowls of PPI Posole with a Tamale for lunch.

We were glued to the TV most of the afternoon and evening, so for dinner we heated the PPI Garlic Eggplant and Rice and ate a quick dinner.  I finally went to bed about 2:00 in the morning after the completion of the count of electoral votes and announcement that Biden and Harris were elected.

Bon Appetit
