July 13, 2026 Breakfast - Granola. Lunch - Sashimi. Dinner - Sashimi

July 13, 2026 Breakfast - Granola. Lunch - Sashimi. Dinner - Sashimi

I woke up at 8:00 and ate granola with milk, yogurt, and blueberries.

Then at 11:15 I started preparing lunch of sashimi. I had invited Henry for lunch at 12:00.

I cooked a cup of sushi rice by adding 1/2 tsp. of dehydrated dashi, two tablespoons of rice vinegar, twenty tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of Chinese rice cooking wine, and some dried seaweed to two cups of water and when it came to a simmer in added one cup or rice.

I thawed five scallops and then peeled and sliced 1/4 cucumber into thin slices and then a five ounce tuna steak, a 9 oz. Salmon fillet Filet, and finally the thawed scallops on a platter.

I also put pickled ginger and pickled daikon and Korean basil into bowls and filled the soy Pitcher and two bowls with Soy. I also fetched the fresh wasabi and the normal wasabi made from powdered wasabi and quartered several cherry tomatoes.

When Henry arrived at noon I fetched a beer for him and made a mug of Green tea for me and served bowls of steaming sushi rice with its distinctive slightly sweet vinegary flavor.

After we ate all we could eat there was still a lot of sashimi left, so I covered the platter with Saran and put it in the fridge.

When Suzette arrived she was hungry and tired and Druid not want to cook,  I showed her the already cut platter of sashimi and she immediately agreed to eat it for dinner. She peeled and sliced the remaining 1/6 of the cucumber and the remaining four cherry tomatoes.

I fetched the wasabi and pickled vegetables and we filled dipping bowls with soy and ate there remaining sashimi and vegetables for dinner.

Suzette drank French Sauvignon Blanc wine and I drank more green tea.

The total cost for the seafood for both meals was $13 or $14 dollars.

After dinner we watch the Antiques Roadshow from Iowa and shared the last slice of lemon tiramisu.

At 7:45 Suzette drove to Willy’s casita and watered his plants.

When she returned we watched the second hour of Roadshow and went to bed at 9:00.

The most interesting thing that occurred today was I decision from a Florida federal District Court judge that said the settlement signed by DOJ in the case Trump brought against the IRS could not be enforced in federal court because it was not a legal controversy. She also found Trump’s two attorneys, including acting AG Todd Blanche, in contempt. and referred them to disciplinary review by their respective bar associations and asked the judges and attorneys who filed briefs opposing the sham settlement to submit a bill for their time.

In other words Trump and his attorneys got hammered for bringing a case without merit and Trump and his family can be audited by the IRS  in the future.

Todd Blanche goes before the Senate tomorrow for confirmation as AG. This decision should generate some interesting questions.

With the resumption of hostilities over the weekend in the Iran War, oil spiked 9% and the Straits of Hormuz are again closed and the Market cratered and I lost almost all I gained on Friday.

Bon Appetit
