November 17, 2018 Lunch – The Shed  Dinner – PPI Salad and a slice of Pumpkin Nut Bread

We shopped today.  I started with a full bowl of Tropical fruit salad, ½ sliced banana, milk, granola, and yogurt at 8:00.

We drove to Sandia H. S. at about 9:00 for what I can only described as the largest Arts and Craft show I have ever attended in Albuquerque.  The purpose was for Suzette to find gifts for her 65 staff members for Christmas.  Suzette holds a staff Christmas Party every year for her staff and gives each a small gift depending upon their hierarchy in the organization.  Today Suzette found small plastic knitted pot scrubbing pads and potholders for the lower level staff and a hair barrette and pin cushion for herself.  I read the New Yorker after visiting several of the eight or so large rooms with her.  In the first room we happened upon Suzette’s friends who own Tome’ Pottery where I bought a nice cereal bowl for $15.00.  Here are pictures.

At about 10:30 we drove north to a house north of Santa Fe where Stephen’s was holding an Estate sale.  I bought a book on the tarot for Luke and a Japanese woodcut of a geisha with her kimono slightly ajar.  Suzette bought textiles she intends to convert into pillows.

A few minutes before noon we drove down Bishop’s Lodge Road into Santa Fe and walked to the The Shed for lunch.  It was sunny and moderately warm in the sunlight so we ordered drinks and sat on the patio for about fifteen minutes until our number was called.  After we were shown to a table in the middle room I ordered my usual, No. 5, which is two rolled beef filled enchiladas with double Posole. Suzette had trouble selecting a dish but finally settled on a carne adovado plate with Posole and beans. We also ordered a piece of Chocolate Mocha Cake and Modelo Negras.  Neither of us could finish our meals, so we packed the remaining food in a box for breakfast burritos on Sunday morning.

Suzette had seen a round outdoor table at the Estate sale, she needed for the deck outside her office, so after our meal, at 1:30, we drove back to the Estate sale and Suzette bought the table with another textile for $55.00.  I wandered a bit more and ran into Bruce Kohl and his wife, Cynthia, and conversed with him while Suzette bought the patio table.

We loaded the table into the car with the other items and drove to another Estate Sale we saw nearer town, where Suzette bought two deviled egg dishes that were copies of Quimper ware for $2.00.  We can now serve deviled eggs in style.  Here is a picture.

When we finished shopping it was 4:00 and we were tired, so we headed home into the setting sun, only stopping for gas at Costco.

We were still stuffed from our heavy New Mexican lunch and could not think about cooking dinner, so we watched TV. Our favorite show, Grandchester, comes on at 9:00 and we watched  an episode of Father Brown at 8:00.  Between shows I toasted a slice of rye bread, covered it with butter and slices of Jarlsberg cheese and heated it in the microwave oven for 22seconds to melt the cheese and ate it with the PPI salad from last night’s dinner.  I then toasted a slice of Suzette’s lovely pumpkin bread and smeared it with butter and marmalade and ate this light dinner while watching Grandchester.

We went to bed at 10:00.

Bon Appetit
