October 5, 2025 Breakfast - Lax and Bagel. Lunch - Vichyssoises with Salami Sandwich. Dinner - Roasted Stuffed Acorn Squash and Baked Apple
I slept until 7:15. When I awakened I watched Newcastle beat Nottingham Forest and then Fareed Zakaria and at 9:00 I toasted three quarter slices of bagel and spread them with cream cheese and garnished with slices of red onion, Gravad lax, and capers.
We also finished peeling and cooking the quinces this morning. It was a five or six day job because there were over 60 lb.s.
At 11:00 we drove to Walgreens for our Covid shots and then the museum to see the German Art 1910 to 1945 show. It was a major show organized The Kimbell Museum touring German Museum paintings and sculpture. It was one of the best exhibits ever produced by our museum.
Here are some of the major works.
At around 1:45 we drove home and ate bowls of Vichyssoises with chives and croutons and iced tea. I also toasted a slice of Bosque Bakery Whole Wheat Sourdough bread and spread it with Mayo and garnished it with red onion slices and salami and ate two dill pickles with it.
While I slept Suzette stuffed two halves of an acorns quash with mushrooms, sausage, and onion and cored three apples and stuffed them with cinnamon and nuts and baked the squash halves and apples in a 350 degree oven.
After lunch I rested until 4:30 when I awakened I walked around the block and returned for dinner Suzette had also destemmed snow peas and steamed them for a green vegetable. I opened a bottle of Embroidery California Pinot Noir and we each ate 1/4 of a stuffed acorn squash and later a baked apple, Suzette’s with cream and mine with whipped cream flavored with powdered sugar and vanilla.
We watched Miss Fisher at 6:00, a silly British docudrama about David Frost’s relationship and interviews of Margaret Thatcher at 7:00, Maigret, another French detective show, at 8:00. Then Suzette went to bed, I watched The Gold, about the Brink’s robbery at 9:00 and Astrid at 10:00 with a cup of tea and a glass of Calvados.
I then blogged and went to bed around 11:30.
Bon Appetit
