March 18, 2024 Lunch - Costco Hot Dog Dinner - Seafood Soup

March 18, 2024 Lunch - Costco Hot Dog  Dinner - Seafood Soup

I was up from 2:00 until 4:45 and slept until 8:30.

I ate three slices toasted and buttered baguette spread plum preserves and slices of Dutch Goat Gouda.

Then at 10:00 I drove to Bill Turner’s and reviewed a transaction and returned home.

At 11:50 I drove to Costco and met Mike to go shopping. I did not buy anything but he bought tee shirts, a broiled chicken, cheeses, and an Italian charcuterie package.

We then ate hot dogs and Kathleen was ordering a hot dog and joined us and I caught up on her, Travis, Drew, and Clint.

It seems like our generation is all are having hip and knee surgeries and their boys have two boys each.

I arrived home around 1:45 and worked at my desk until 4:00 when Suzette arrived and we watched the Beat together.  There were two significant decisions today and another on the way.

Chief Supreme Court Justice Roberts filed memorandum opinion responding to Trump’s tweet that the chief Judge of the DC district or Appellate Court should be impeached that stated that impeachment is not the proper remedy for a decision one does not like. Instead the appeals process is the proper procedure to question the validity of a decision one does not agree with.

The other decision was a refutation of DOGE that required the re-hiring of all persons who were fired at US AID by DOGE and an injunction was entered against any more firings with the threat of contempt.

The Judge Trump is trying to get impeached is in the process of determining if the Saturday airlift of a bunch of Venezuelans was one in accordance with legal requirements and whether the airlift violated the judge’s order to turn the planes around. There is a hearing set for Friday to determine if the Judge’s order was violated and examine the facts. Immigration Czar Homan said that the government will continue to deport persons regardless of what the Judge orders, which would create a Constitutional crisis.

So the Trump agenda is getting shredded by the Courts. Unfortunately, much harm has already been done and there seems to still be an appetite by Trump and Musk to reshape the government by destroying your elements they do not like without going through the correct Legislative procedures.

Dinner - At 6:30 we started dinner. Suzette heated about 2 1/2 quarts of the crab broth she made Saturday and I diced a sweet onion and about ten 1/2 stalks of celery. Suzette sautéed the onion and celery and then added them to the broth.

I diced two red potatoes and Suzette added those to the soup.

Then Suzette thawed several pieces of frozen salmon, a small tuna steak and about 1/2 lb. of sea scallops and added those to the soup plus some milk to make a fish chowder.

I fetched a bottle of Palintir French Sauvignon Blanc and Suzette sliced 5 thick slices of baguette that she toasted and I buttered and we ate a lovely light dinner.  The soup was rich in ingredients but had a bland flavor, so I actually added some salt to bring out its flavor.

After watching Jensen Huang’s speech today at the Nvidia conference we talked to Willy, who arrived in Da Nang, Vietnam yesterday and went to bed at 9:00 after speaking to Amy for a few minutes.

Bon Appetit
