January 25, 2024 Lunch - Placitas Cafe. Dinner - Swedish Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes and spinach
I did not eat any breakfast this morning.
Charlie picked me up at 10:45 and then we picked up Peter and drove to the Placitas Cafe to meet the book club members for lunch. I saw Paul Fish who just retired and is spending his time tending his grapes and said he was going to make a 100% Pinot noir rose this year.
I ordered a Placitas omelet, which was a three egg omelet wrapped around a vegetable medley of squash, onions, and mushrooms in a sauce with a slice of grilled ham and a side of beans.
After lunch we drove to Jeff’s house and discussed the book, Flags over the Bayou. Everyone liked the book and there was a subdued discussion as we watched a winter snow storm drape the north side of the Sandias.
After the discussion Jeff served some chocolate cake and a Danish Kringling with vanilla ice cream.
Then Charlie drove us home by way of a book store in Bernalillo where Peter picked up a book.
Suzette was home when I arrived at 4:30.
I had a phone call from a client and then we listened to the news for a few minutes. After a few minutes we decided to watch a movie and selected a Danish film titled A Beautiful Life that we enjoyed very much.
Before the movie a peeled and cubed about eight potatoes that Suzette boiled and then mashed.
She heated the prepared Swedish meatballs and gravy from the package in about 5 minutes.
Suzette opened a bottle of 2018 Margaux and then plated dinner, a pile of mashed potatoes on a handful of fresh spinach covered with 5 or 6 meatballs in gravy.
It was a good dinner.
Bon Appetit
