January 21, 2024 Breakfast - caffe au Lait with Chocolate Croissant Brunch - Hot Dog at Costco. Snack - Tabouli pita sandwich Dinner - Grilled Lamb Riblets with Tabouli, Crushed Garbanzo Beans, Green Olives, pickled turnips, and Labni
I woke up at 7:00 and watched Sheffield play West Ham and the news and then Zareed Zacharia. Suzette made me a cup of cafe au Lait with Chiapas beans. I ate a heated chocolate croissant with it for a fun breakfast.
At 10:00 we drove to recycle bottles and cardboard and then we drove to Costco where we bought lamb riblets, Peet’s dark roast coffee beans, Belgium chocolate crepes, a dozen pitas, Portobello Mushrooms, and baguettes. We ate hot dogs with a drink after we shopped.
We returned home at 11:30 and the first divisional playoff between Tampa Bay and Detroit did not begin until 1:00, so I made tabouli with 1 1/2 bunches of parsley minced, a tomato diced, two Persian cucumbers diced, juice of 1/2 lemon, a couple dashes of salt, 1/2 bunch of dill weed minced, 1 cup of No. 2 bulgur soaked in hot water and drained and a drizzle of olive oil.
I then cut in half and warmed a pita in the toaster to soften it and fill the opening that was about 1/2 of each side’s surface with tabouli and smeared labni in the pocket also.
I watched Detroit win the game and then walked around the block to complete the one mile walking goal I set for myself today. The weather was overcast and , so we did not walk in the Bosque as we had hoped.
I returned just as the kickoff for the second playoff between Kansas City and Buffalo was beginning at 4:30.
Suzette had not eaten an afternoon snack as I had so she wanted to eat early. We decided to grill the riblets and serve them with tabouli, green olives, pickles, pickled turnips, labni, and toasted pita bread wedges. We opened a can that said hummus but it was whole garbanzo beans. Suzette heated the garbanzos and I smashed them and we put a drizzle of olive oil and lots of minced parsley on them.
Willy called and came over to do his laundry and joined us for dinner.
Suzette fetched a bottle of Banshee Pinot Noir that we had bought at Costco on a previous trip. The wine was quite nice with a mild pleasant finish as it opened up.
After dinner Willy left and we watched the rest of the second game that Kansas City won 27 to 24 after four lead changes.
We also watched much of PBS Mystery which was n episode of amiss Scarlet and the Duke. This episode was a flashback to her youth when she first met the Duke as a young man.
At 8:00 I blogged this blog and then yesterday’s blog and then watched an episode of Funny Lady.
If one can gain weight eating a Mediterranean diet, I surely did tonight.
Bon Appetit
