March 14, 2020 Lunch -Sashimi, Sushi Rice, and Japanese Pickled Vegetables. Dinner – PPI Boeuf Bourguignon with Mashed Potatoes and PPI Steamed String Beans

I slept until 9:00.  We got dressed and drove to Walgreens so Suzette could replenish zinc spray and other over the counter cold medications.  Then we drove to El Super to shop.  It was mobbed.  It looked as if everyone got a pay check yesterday and today they were stocking up for a long quarantine.  We bought limes, lemons, parsley, green onions, radishes, bell peppers for Charlie, flour and corn tortillas, cojita cheese for enchiladas, shrimp, smoked pork chops, small avocados, cilantro, tomatillos, pork butt roast, pork shanks, and black beans. Suzette bought a large squash and several of the same items for the Center.

We then drove to Sprouts on Coors.  I ran in and bought 6 liters of Spanish olive on sale for $5.99/liter, 3 mangos for $1.00, 1 lb. of thick cut bacon for $2.99, two gallons of milk for Charlie, and walnuts for $3.99/lb.

We then drove across the river on Montano to Costco and filled up with gas.  Then we drove across the street to Home Depot sonSuzette could buy a couple of items and finally at 2:00 we drove home by way of Charlie’s house to deliver the bell peppers and milk.

We were famished when we arrived home.  Suzette immediately heated the leftover salmon and vegetables from our dinner Sunday night at Zinc.

I supplemented the PPI Sashimi from Thursday night with additional salmon and tuna and heated a bowl of the PPI sushi rice and fetched the Japanese pickled vegetables and made a cup of green tea with the green tea Marty and YoYo brought us as a house gift.  I ate most of the Sashimi but Suzette ate some after she finished her salmon.

I then simmered 2 artichokes for about an hour and drained them and put them into the refrigerator.

I rested until 4:30 and then we walked about 2/3 of a mile through the neighborhood and when we returned we poured glasses of French rose  and played our first game of bocce with our new bocce set on our newly renovated bocce court.  It was really fun.

I then peeled and diced and boiled a pot of russet potatoes and Suzette mashed them and heated the PPI Boeuf Bourguignon and PPI green beans and we ate a wonderful reprise of our dinner party several weeks ago.

I opened a bottle of 2012 Origon Gran Reserva (60% Syrah and 40% Tempranillo from Terra Alta in Catalan Spain Trader Joe’s $5.99).

We enjoyed dinner as we watched Rachel’s Friday night program again.

We then watched a movie titled 5 Floors Up starring Morgan Freeman, Diane Keaton, and Cynthia Nixon about the tensions of buying and selling an apartment in NYC.

I started on the 2019:taxes and the blogged after Suzette went to bed.

I also drank chai and ate a few cookies.

So today included a little bit of everything.

Bon Appetit
