July 5, 2019 Lunch – IKEA Dinner – BBQ at Elaine and Billy’s

July 5, 2019 Lunch – IKEA   Dinner – BBQ at Elaine and Billy’s

We got a slow start this morning.  We drove to Ikea  at 10:00.

I read until 11:15 when I had a conference call for a new real estate client while Suzette shopped.

At 12:30 we ate Swedish meatballs, potatoes, and vegetables and salad for lunch with Elderberry saft (fruit punch) and a chocolate bar.

We then went through the lower level and picked several items for the apartment.

We then drove to two estate sales.  At the first one I bought a 1941 D Jefferson nickel in Very good condition for $7.50 that is probably worth $50.00 to $100.00 and a Mexican silver bracket for Suzette for $30.00 for her birthday.

At the first estate sale Suzette bought a Middle Eastern cookbook and textiles.

We drove to another estate sale at a house that was owned by Germans.  The only thing we bought was a three brass bell arrangement.  The heat was over 90 degrees and we felt it.

So, we then drove home.  I showered and rested until Suzette awakened me at 6:15.  I got dressed and went in and watched Brooks and Mulvehy on PBS news.  Ben and Denise arrived for dinner.  We all watched Washington Week and then ate dinner.  It was an elegant seated affair around our family dining table and chairs and rug that used to be in our family dining room in the house we grew up in in Fort Worth.  It was a very deja experience for me.

Billy served Smoked Pork Ribs and BBQ sauce from Hutchens in McKinney, plus There was a great salad by Elaine, beans by Billy, and grilled corn.

Willy joined us.  It was a lovely meal Suzette and I split a Bohemia and then we each drank a glass of Rioja wine.

After dinner Elaine served dessert, PPI Father’s day cake and the delicious PPI strawberry Sorbet she made yesterday.

Ben and Denise then left and Billy brought to the good stuff, Armagnac aged 13 years, Marc de Bourgogne, Reserva Grappa.  I tried them all and they were exceptional, but my favorite was the Armagnac.

Then we went to bed. Elaine had awakened at 6:00 to go to work and had been up all day.

Bon Appetit
