February 11, 2024 Brunch - Sloppy Joe and pretzels. Super Bowl party

February 11, 2024 Brunch - Sloppy Joe and pretzels. Super Bowl party

Bev started early to make the food for the Super Bowl party they were hosting today.  While I watched the news programs in the

Morning she made sloppy Joesin a crock pot by sautéing ground beef, and onions and adding cans of tomato sauce seasoning it with Brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce.

We were hungry so we ate bowl of the sloppy Joe with a few Snyder’s broken pretzels.

Then Don, Suzette and I walked around the block and over to the club house and we drove back to their house.

We then drove to the manatee viewing area near the TECO power plant where we saw lots of manatees surface to breath.

We then drove to Citrus Place where we bought a cup of vanilla soft ice cream swirled with orange ice cream and a 1/2 gallon of fresh of orange juice.

                                                                      The orchard

We returned to Don and Bev’s at 4:30 for the Super Bowl only to find out that it started at 6:30.

There was a group of friends and relatives from Pennsylvania gathered to watch the game.

I ate several Lebanon Bologna rolls made by spreading cream cheese on one side of a large round slice of Bologna and then rolling it into a tight roll plus the three salads Bev made, Cole slaw, potato salad and a very interesting broccoli salad made with a Mayo, vinegar, lemon juice, and sugar dressing.

The game started at 6:30 Eastern time and it was agonizing to watch until almost the end of regulation when KC came from behind to tie the game at 10 points and send it into overtime.

Then KC’s defense stopped SF’s drive in overtime to force a field goal. The with 1minute and 43 seconds KC got the ball back and drove the length of the field to score on a miss direction play where everyone went left but the receiver turned back and ran to the end zone and caught the ball.

I ate a piece of pound cake soaked in cognac with fresh strawberries in syrup and blueberries with real Reddi Whip whipped cream and a cup of tea and then went to bed.

What a fulsome day of food, adventure, and Super Bowl excitement.

Bon Appetit
