August 4, 2018 Lunch – The Center for Ageless Living. Dinner – PPI Salmon cakes, tartar sauce, and steamed green beans.

This was a Cooking day.

I ate a bagel with Lax, cream cheese, onion slices and capers with green tea for breakfast.

At 9:30 we left for The Center.  We had to stop at Smith’s for onions and green bell peppers, so arrived about 10:30.  Suzette organized the bread and butter pickle detail with me and a couple of employees.  We cut up the bell peppers and then the onions.  Then w3 washed a milk carton full of cucumbers from the garden.  Suzette set up the Cuisinart and we diced the onions and bell peppers and sliced about twenty pounds of cucumbers.  We divided the ingredients between two large pots that Suzette had added the additional ingredients and a bit after 11:30 we were finished with the pickles except for simmering them for an hour.  I went out to the tent in the park for lunch and the concert by Swag, a three piece band with a singer a bassist, and a lead guitarist.

Lunch was lovely, BBQ brisket, German potato salad made with fresh boiled potatoes and onions, a tomato and cucumber salad, and at the end a slice of cold watermelon.  Most of the clients came outside to hear the music and eat lunch.  I sat beside Hazel and Edward.

                                                 Hazel and Edward

The music was smooth jazz and lasted until 1:00.

I then walked to the spa and at 1:30 had a massage with Pierre, who is French and a sommelier, so
lots of good wine discussion.  I actually took him a bottle of 2012 Gruet Blanc de Blanc in a Gruet tote bag for his birthday.

After the massage at 2:25 Suzette and I drove back to Albuquerque and rested for and hour.

At 5:00 I woke up and made a spaghetti sauce with two Italian sausages, a hamburger patty, 1 ¼ onions diced finely, six Roma tomatoes, six cloves of garlic, 1/3 cup of chopped oregano from the garden, a 32 oz. bottle of tomato, basil spaghetti sauce, and about 1/2 cup of red wine.  After cooking about 1/3 hour the sauce tasted sensational.

At 7:00 we decided to cook a simple dinner.  To reheated the PPI salmon cakes and steam the beautiful green beans I bought at El Super on Wednesday for $.99/lb.

Suzette made a tartar sauce with mayo, lemon juice and sweet pickle relish.  She drank wine and I drank an Especial.

We then drove to civic plaza for the Robert Randolph concert at 8:30.

His music was up beat rock with lots of whining steel guitar.  I was disappointed that there was no gospel music and Suzette found the music unpleasant, so we left after an hour at 9:45 and went home and went to bed except I stayed up to blog and sip two glasses of rompope mixed with cognac.

Bon Appetit
