September 17, 2025 Lunch - Le Quiche with Alan. Dinner - Leftover Chirashi

September 17, 2025 Lunch - Le Quiche with Alan. Dinner - Leftover Chirashi

What an amazing day. I woke up at 5:00 and saw a breaking news alert that the Chinese government had told banned the sale of Nvidia chips in China.

At 5:30 I sold 3000 shares of Nvidia for $172.47 per share as the shares were dropping from their previous close at $174.88.

I talked to Willy and decided to not sell any more shares.

I spent most of the morning watching the market to decide upon a re-entry point to buy the shares back. The trading ranged around $170. I had made a lunch appointment with Alan to meet at Le Quiche at noon. So at 11:00 before I left home I placed a limit buy order at $169.47 for 3100 shares. Thus using the gain to buy 100 more shares with the addition of $8,000.

While we were talking at lunch the order filled, yielding a $9,000 gain or avoidance of loss. Nvidia fell $4.56 for the day to close at $170.29., so my portfolio lost .072% for the day, even with the $9000 avoidance of loss and slight gain of $.82 from the price I bought back at. What was thrilling was that I had bought back with a $3.00 avoidance of loss and the stock went up in price from the buy back point. As I write this blog early on the 18th, the pre market price of Nvidia is $175.08, up $4.80 from yesterday’s close because Nvidia just announced a $5 billion investment in Intel.

I am on a high as I have more shares than I had and they are going up in value for the moment. Now we need to see President Trump work a deal with China to re-gain access for Nvidia to the Chinese market for Nvidia stock to take another leg up in value.

It was great seeing Alan. We have been friends for around forty years. He and Smokie lived comfortably on his government pension from being a federal magistrate judge for 12 years. Alan was also a prominent attorney and President of the New Mexico State Bar Association.

Alan had not eaten breakfast so he ordered a latte and an omelet Provençal. The coffee was served in one of those large bowls that resemble a soup bowl.

I ordered my favorite dish, Salade Nicoise, which is a decomposed and recomposed salad. It is a row of mainly three ingredients served on a long narrow platter, potato slices form the base with slices of egg laid on the potatoes, and a row of torn pieces of seared Aji tuna laid on top. The whole row of ingredients was drizzled with a creamy French dressing and small pieces of olives and yellow and red bell pepper were distributed randomly around the row. It made a dramatic presentation that I continue to be impressed by.

After lunch I went home in a state of euphoria and napped from 2:40 to 3:40 and meditated from 4:00 to 4:30.

Suzette and I drove to Costco at 5:00 through the avalanche of traffic and shopped for the cocktail party we will host on Friday. We bought disposable plates, cups, napkins, and silverware. We also bought a wedge of Manchego and a salmon filet to teriyaki and grill.

We also bought spinach, a roasted chicken, coffee, and a couple of other items.

When we returned home we shared the }leftover 1/2 of my Crazy Fish Chirashi and Suzette ate a leg quarter of the rotisserie chicken.

I drank green tea and Suzette drank Acrobat Pinot Gris.

We went to bed at 8:30.

Bon Appetit
