November 10, 2024 Breakfast - Gravad Lax on Toasted baguette. Lunch - PPI Tagliatelle and Salmon. Dinner - Grilled T-bone steak with sautéed Mushrooms and Spinach in a cream sauce with Tabouli
At 7:00 I watched Ipswich win its first match in the Premier League against Tottenham. Then I watched a great match between Arsenal and Chelsea that ended in a 1 to 1 draw.
During halftime I toasted three slices of baguette and spread them with cream cheese and garnished them with slices of red onion and Gravad Lax and capers.
After the second match we drove to Total wine where we bought a 1.75 liter bottle of 151 Proof grain alcohol that we will use to infuse lemon peel to make limoncello.
We also bought scotch for Suzette and a bottle of Le Pont Bandol rose, and a 12 Pack of Negra Modelo and a 12 pack of Carlsberg Green tall boys.
We then drove to Trader Joe’s that was crowded with shoppers and bought a loaf of ciabatta, a 17 oz. bar of Belgium milk Chocolate and 12 bottles of wine, a Lussac St. Emillon, a Barbera di Asti, a Gruner Vietliner, a German Riesling, two bottle of Le Ferme Julien rose, two bottles of Palantir French Sauvignon Blancs, two bottles of Trader Joe’s Platinum Carneros Pinot Noir, and one or two others.
We then drove home at 2:00 and ate lunch. I ate the leftover Tagliatelle with Salmon drizzled with cream of asparagus soup and Suzette ate a bowl of.the asparagus cream soup.
Suzette rested and I made tabouli. I soaked about 1 cup of No. 1 Bulgar wheat covered in hot water and then chopped a cucumber, three bunches of parsley, three bunches of green onions, four Roma tomatoes, and three stalks of destemmed mint leaves. Suzette joined me and we added the juice of one lemon, about 2/3 cup good Spanish olive and a dash of salt.
The result was delicious and we decided to eat it with dinner.
At 4:00 we walked around the block. looking ip at V shaped formation after formation of sand hill cranes flying South to their winter grounds at Bosque de Apache.
Dinner - when we returned home we started dinner. I sliced four portobello mushrooms, half a shallot, and three small cloves of garlic that we sautéed in butter and olive oil and Amontillado sherry and creamed by adding some leftover cream sauce from last night’s dinner. Suzette rinsed and tore stems off a bunch of spinach I bought at El Super and grilled a thick cut T-bone steak to medium. When she brought the steak in from the grill she added a handful of spinach leaves to the mushroom sauce to make creamed spinach with mushrooms and shallot sauce for the steak..
I sliced the steak and Suzette plated the spinach and mushroom sauce and we each selected slices of steak. I gave Suzette three pieces of tenderloin and we each served ourselves a scoop of tabouli, as a combination salad and starch.
I opened the 2022 Lussac-St. Emillon we bought at a trader Joe’scand it was delicious, as was the meal.
We the sipped the rest of the bottle of wine as we watched Masterpiece Theatre episodes of Nolly and the The Marlow Murder Club.
The zsuzette went to bed and I blogged this entry.
I love days like this that Normal activity takes you over 3000 steps.
Bon Appetit
