August 12, 2025 Breakfast - Blueberry Muffin and tea. Lunch - Ryan Williams Winery and Restaurant. Dinner - The Switzerland Inn in Keuka, NY
Another great day with lots of wonderful wine.
I had a blueberry muffin with a cup of tea for breakfast. Suzette did not eat any muffin. Billy drove Suzette and me. We stopped at a distillery that had won a gold medal for its grappa. We toured the distillery and bought a 375 ml. bottle of grappa.
We then drove Ryan Williams winery and Restaurant on the east side of Lake Seneca.
I tasted a rose and red tasting of five wines and Suzette tasted a flight of white wines. We both got a Pinot noir rose and loved it. Then we ordered dinner when Charlie, Sarah, and Elaine arrived. Suzette and I shared an Italian Salad with Smoked shrimp, everyone else ordered kale quiche with a salad.
Several ordered sangrias that were made with white wine.
The food was wonderful. I loved the creme fraiche dressing on the Italian salad.
After the meal I bought two bottles each of the Ryan Williams Cabernet Franc, Gruner Vitliner, and Pinot noir rose for $100.00.
Billy, Suzette and I then drove north to Red Newt, which is going through changes with a new wine maker. I find its wines exquisite, so we joined their Signature wine club that will ship 24 bottles per year of our choice. We also bought 6 Big H and 6 2013 Bullhorn Creek Riesling to be shipped in Septmber.
We then drove back south to Finger Lake Distillery but left after Suzette tasted the two gins.
It was about 3:00 when we arrived at Hermann Wiemer. We tasted about ten wines and bought one bottle of each of the dry rose, the 2022 Cab. Franc, and their Cuvee sparkling wine.
We the returned to Plum Point Lodge to nap, but instead found our room door open and a workman fixing our air conditioning unit. We waited and hour for him to finish and then rested as the room cooled.
It was another day of profit in my portfolio. I campo omly guess but I guess that there was a gain of about .6%. The Dow gained 483 and the NASDAQ gained 296 points, so a big day.
At 6:45 we drove to Switzerland Inn in Keuka which was an inn on the water with boat slips for those who wanted to drive 5eir boat to the restaurant.
There was loud music and not a great menu, but Suzette and I ordered steamed clams and Haddock Florentine with a side of spaghetti. The haddock was a whole filet of Icelandic haddock covered with strips of pimiento, and a sprinkle of cheese and spinach. Suzette and I shared the spaghetti and the dish was saved when Suzette gave me a few clams and some of the butter, wine, and parsley sauce from the clams that was remarkably similar to the wine and butter sauce Suzette makes for fish dishes.
Billy and Elaine both ordered a hamburgers. The table next to our was a large family with the husband wearing a TCU cap, so we hello. They were staying a pt the wife’s family’s cabin in the area.
We drove back at 8:00 and said goodnight after a great day of wine tasting.
Bon Appetit
