January 6, 2024 Brunch - open faced burrito with potato, sausage, onion, and eggs Dinner - East Ocean

January 6, 2024 Brunch - open faced burrito with potato, sausage, onion, and eggs Dinner - East Ocean

We only ate two meals today, a big brunch and a huge Chinese dinner, although Suzette ate a bag of popcorn and a couple of cookies in the afternoon and I drank a glass of yogurt drink.

Around 11:00 Suzette made breakfast by sautéing a diced Yukon Gold potato, some onion, some Jimmy Dean sausage, and some eggs.

We served the scramble on a toasted flour tortilla.  Suzette took less scramble than me so she could roll her tortilla into a burrito.  I took more rhat covered the tortilla and I ate the scramble and tortilla by cutting wedges with a knife and a fork.

We drank water.

Then we drove to the library to pick up Flags on the Bayou, our book club selection for January and then to Costco to shop.  We bought Pellegrino, a salmon filet, Dewars scotch, 13 bottles of wine including three bottles of our favorite cava from Spain, Juve  and Camps, and a Malbec for Willy and Lubiderm lotion.

We then drove to Southwest Distributors where Suzette bought horseradish and a bottle of capers.

We returned home at 1:30 I drank a glass of yogurt drink and then lay down to rest and read the new book until 3:30 while Suzette watched Home remodeling shows and ate popcorn.

At 3:30 I walked around the block and then sat with Suzette and drank a cup of chai until 6:00 when we drove to East Ocean to meet Aaron, Monika, and Alexi for dinner.  We considered several options until Aaron suggested ordering the family dinner for five persons which included an egg roll, a fried wonton, a sesame ball, and a fried shrimp as appetizers and five entrees, chicken cashew, Shrimp with Lobster sauce, Mongolian Beef, Happy Family, and shrimp and scallops with snow peas and rice and tea.

It was a staggering amount of food because the entree were full dinner sized servings on platters.

We ate and ate and still there was at least 1/2 of the food left.

Aaron and Monika did not want it so I boxed all five dishes and the rice and we took it home for future meals.

We then returned home and watched the wildcard game between the Texans and the Colts and then Saturday Night Live and then Suzette went to bed  I watched a new French hospital series titled Nina and then went to bed to blog and read.

I am feeling better and walking more and eating a little less.  Hopefully I will be able to keep up this regimen and lose weight and increase my stamina to make it through my operation recovery quicker than last time.

Bon Appetit
