March 6, 2018 Breakfast – Mushroom and Feta Cheese Omelet with roasted asparagus. Dinner – Cool River Cafe at Dallas Love Field

March 6,  2018  Breakfast – Mushroom and Feta Cheese Omelet with roasted asparagus. Dinner – Cool River Cafe at Dallas Love Field

Bev made us breakfast before we departed Elizabethtown for NY La Guardia Airport.  She made a lovely feta cheese and sautéed mushroom omelet and brushed asparagus with olive oil and roasted them in the oven until tender.  I drank orange juice and tea with my breakfast.

We drove north of Hershey to catch I-78 which took us all the way to the NJTurnpike.  We then drove north and crossed the Hudson on the George Washington Bridge, crossed upper Manhattan on a freeway, went down the east side of Manhattan to the Triboro Bridge and crossed the East River, nibbling the sweet bologna and cheese on crackers that Jean had brought us instead of stopping to eat.  We found the Enterprise rental return lot without any difficulty, thanks to our GPS mapping function.  A gracious assistant saw we had five bags and drove us to the airport terminal.  We checked three bags and each carried a suitcase of china.

We flew to Dallas Live Field, where we decided to try to find some dinner.  We went to the Cool River Café that offered table service and were pleasantly surprised by the menu.  Suzette ordered a grilled grouper sandwich with a mango sauce without the bread and sweet potato fries that was delicious.  I ordered a Chicken Pecan salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, sliced egg, an avocado, red cabbage strips, and pecans dressed with a honey mustard dressing.  The waitress said, “The kitchen is out of fried chicken.  Is a grilled chicken breast okay?”  I said, “Yes, but please put more lettuce on the plate.”  The salad was really delicious.  I ate and ate. We took a table next to the window with a view of the airplanes taxing into and out of their gates.

We arrived in Albuquerque at 9:30 and were happy to be back home, except Suzette caught a cold.

Bon Appetit
