May 20, 2023 Lunch - Bun Cha Gio with grilled pork from Vietnam Pho. Dinner - Prepared Lamb Shank in Pomegranate Sauce with Mashed Potatoes and steamed broccoli and zucchini and tzatziki

Awakened at 6:00 and watched Brentford beat Tottenham 3 to 1.

I had ridden two miles so I made a salami and cheese sandwich that I ate on the way to the Farmers’ Market.

I got weak toward the end of the loop around the park and bought an apple cider and made it back to the car and Suzette drove us home.  We purchased five of six plants for the garden that Suzette put in the garden at 9:45 and then left for Los Lunas for the big Saturday music and food event for first responders.

I watched Nottingham Forest beat Arsenal 1 to 0 and Willy picked up two Bun Cha Gio with grilled pork and arrived with ten minutes left to play in the match.  This win means Nottingham is clear of relegation and Arsenal will not win the PL this year.

After Willy left I watched Liverpool and Aston Villa tie 1 to 1 with a late goal in the last minute of regulation time.

Suzette came home with lots of plants for the zen garden around 3:00 that she is planning and we carried them to the area in which she wishes to plant them as the rain started. It rained off and on for much of the afternoon.

Suzette had gotten a Covid booster shot at the Farmers’ market and was not feeling well so we watched the Preakness in bed and then at 6:00 started watching game two of the Stanley Cup western finals between The Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes.

At the first intermission we started dinner.  Suzette heated the bag of prepared lamb shank in pomegranate sauce and reconstituted the Mashed Potatoes she made several days ago with cream and butter. I deflowered the flowerets from a head of broccoli and sliced a zucchini and put them into the steamer and added water and started the steamer steaming.

Then I went to the garden and picked fennel and mint and chopped them finely and added them to the the tzatziki that PI made with a peeled, seeded, and diced cucumber plus juice of 1/2 lemon, a dash of salt, a pressed clove of garlic, and a cup of yogurt.

Willy picked a 2019 Tempranillo from Rioja and opened it and put it on the table as Suzette was plating a pile of mashed potatoes and spoonfuls of the lamb and the steamed broccoli and zucchini into plates.

There was more than enough food for all three of us especially with the tzatziki.

We discussed Willy’s trip around the world that he will leave on next Sunday and that he has won his fantasy soccer league with a prize of $500.00. Both things confirm to me that Willy is smart and strategic.

Willy left after dinner and we watched the rest of the hockey game that Florida again won early in overtime 2 to 1, although Suzette seemed to have a reaction to her Covid booster and went to bed at 9:00 at the end of regulation.

I then watched Death in Paradise and Astrid with another glass of wine and two slices of brie cheese. I then blogged this blog.

Bon Appetit
