April 7, 2025 Breakfast- Waffle with honey and fruit, ham and cheese omelet, fruit salad and mimosa Lunch - Chicken Sandwich. Dinner - Cazuela de Cabrito y papas
We woke up and I ate a leftover waffle with honey and fruit. Then the morning’s breakfast was delivered with two more waffles, two fruit salads, two orange juices, and two ham and cheese omelets. Suzette ate a fruit salad and I ate an omelet that was wonderfully soft and gory with melted cheese and small chunks of ham.
Suzette made us mimosas by mixing one of the orange juices with the complimentary champagne.
We left for the airport at 10:00 and arrived at 10:50, two hours before our flight.
We flew to BA at 12:50 and on to Salta at 5:10. We are chicken sandwiches at 2:00 on the first flight. When we arrived in Salta we were the first to go to Alamo Rental, but it took about an hour to pick up the small Renault SUV.
We arrived at Balcon del Plaza at 9:00.
Billy and Elaine met us at the hotel but had eaten a late lunch, so did not join us for dinner at a restaurant next to the hotel.
I ordered a daily special, cazuela de cabrito y papas and 1/2 liter of the house red wine. The cazuela is the name for the clay pot in which the cabrito stew is cooked. The dish was a stew of chunks of goat meat, carrots, onion, potatoes, lentils, green peas, in a ligh sauce. It was really delicious. And the red wine was above average, especially with the ice cubes served with it.
Perhaps the best thing was the check. It was 10,000 pesos for the cazuela and 6000 for the wine, about US$15.00.
We went across the street and looked at shawls and sweaters made of Llama wool and then at 10:30 we went to our room and bed.
Bon Appetit
