April 6, 2025 Breakfast - Ham and cheese Omelet and fruit salad. Lunch - Empanada de Surubi Dinner - Grilled Chicken with Cassava and Chimichurri Sauce
I awakened at 6:30 and showered, shaved, and read in bed until Suzette awakened around 8:30..
We ate breakfast on the balcony. I re-heated a ham and cheese omelet and some the fruit salad Suzette ate. The Costa del Sol serves a large breakfast every day around 8:30 except Sunday. Since we have been leaving before 8:30 we have several
I drank Earl Grey tea and Suzette made coffee with steamed milk.
We left around 9:45 and drove soutnh until the road evaporated into rock and dirt. So we turned around ans drove back to the three country point and looked at the shops but did not
We took pictures and then walked to El Punto Bar and Restaurant on the Argentine side a bit upstream from where the Iguazu joins the Parana River.
It was 11:00 and the Restauranr was just opening. We were the first customers of the day. Suzette ordered a Bloody Mary and I ordered a honey beer. As it turned the bar did not have tomato juice so the bartender made juice by blending ripe tomatoes and straining the juice. The result was the thickest, richest Bloody Mary Suzette ever had. I tasted it and was ready to order one also but already was drinking my beer.
When the waitress brought us menus I noticed that the restaurant offered a Surubi Fried Empanada. Surubi was the third local fish and one we had not tried so we ordered two. The chopped reddish brown meat inside our empanada was tasty and filling.
The Chimichurri Sauce
After our lunch we drove to a food shopping area with mostly wine and food, such as olives and olive oil that appeared to be produced in Mendoza plus lots of cookies.
We are going to Mendoza, so we decided to buy olive oil and wine there. We then drove back to the costa, stopping on the way to fill the truck with diesel and stop at a roadside grill to buy a grilled whole chicken, cassava, and Chimichurri sauce for $12,000 pesos ($10.80) for dinner.
When we returned to the bungalow at 3:30 we rested read, tried to swim, but the water was cold, and shared a Fruit salad until the sun set at 7:00, when I deboned the chicken and prepared two plates of chicken, cassava, and Chimichurri. Suzette drank the Stella Artois beer with her plate and I drank the last two glasses of white wine with mine and we still had 1 1/2 breasts for sandwiches.
We watched the sunset and the after glow and went to bed at 8:45.
Bon Appetit
