June 13, 2025. Lunch - carne Adovado tacos. Dinner- Sautéed Smoked Pork Chop, Spaghetti, broccoli, and Butternut Squash.
Today was less busy than the last few days which allowed us to catch up on errands and cook.
Suzette left to do errands around 9:00 and I followed at 9:30. I went to El Super after eating a bowl of granola with tropical fruit salad, milk, and mango yogurt.
I bought over $60.00 of groceries which is a lot. I also bought a 1/2 lb. of carne adovado. I replenished our groceries after the loss of cooling in our fridge.
Luckily the problem appears to be fixed and the freezer is cold and the fridge is starting to make ice.
I bought lemons, limes, mangos, red cabbage, a large head of cauliflower, red onions, am Anaheim chili pepper, three small and two parsley, cilantro, green onions, ginger, large avocados, corn chips, refried beans, mango and plain yogurt, sour cream, shrimp, three chicken leg quarters, orange juice, zucchini, 2 cucumbers, and mushrooms.
Soon after I returned home and unloaded the groceries around 11:15 Suzette arrived from her trip to Home Depot where she bought two red Yuccas and two sided scotch tape to re glue the metal front back onto the top shelf of the refrigerator.
Suzette heated corn Tortillas and the carne adovado and chopped fresh lettuce from the garden and made tacos garnished with with sour cream and some of the homemade salsa given with the carne.
I ate the taco and drank a glass of fresh orange juice. Then I worked at my desk until Peter arrived around 12:30.
When Peter agreed to eat carne Avocado tacos for lunch I was thrilled. I heated the carne and eight corn tortillas. I also opened and heated the can of La Costenitos refried pinto beans I bought at El super this morning.
Peter drank a Modelo Especial and I drank a Negra Modelo.
At 2:30 I lay down and napped until 3:30.
We then made potato salad with the larger Yukon Gold potatoes we grew plus chopped celery, green onion, tarragon, and parsley following the Julia Child recipe.
We discovered that the Neighborhood cocktail party was not until the 20th, so we started dinner at 6:00.
Suzette sautéed the two thawed smoked pork chops with broccoli, spaghetti, and cubes of roasted butternut squash.
Then she opened the chilled bottle of Kirkland Cotes du Provence and added some to the sauté and I poured glasses for dinner. Soon she spooned the cooked sauté into bowls and we ate a pleasant dinner that turned out to not be accepted by our stomaches. Suzette threw up her dinner and I felt queasy all evening and eating an ice cream drumstick did not help much.
Suzette went to bed after we watched OKC beat Indianapolis in game 4 of the NBA finals to tie the series at 2 games each and then an interesting Netflix documentary on the latest discoveries of Neanderthal civilization from around 130,000 BC to 40,000 BC. The last and closest human relatives to us, Homo sapiens.
I fell asleep in the TV room until 1:00 when I went to bed.
Bon Appetit
