June 1, 2025 Breakfast - carne Adovado and bean tacos. Lunch - Robert Zinsky wine tasting with Artichoke catering. Dinner - Locro
I watched Fareed Zacharia and then went to get money to pay Carlo’s brother for fixing the fence. At 10:00 Suzette came in from working in the garden planting the plants we bought at the farmer’s market yesterday; cornichon cucumbers and chervil.
I heated the leftover carne adovado from our lunch at Garcia’s with a few slices of onion and a dash or two of hot sauce and fetched the fresh corn tortillas we bought at El Super. Suzette wrapped four tortillas in a damp paper towel and heated them in the microwave on put them on a plate and poured two glasses of fresh orange juice.
I fried three eggs over easy in a separate skillet.
We each filled our tortillas with the carne adovado and lay our eggs on top.
I was able to fold one tortilla into a taco and ate a delicious egg and carne adovado taco. The other tortilla fell apart and I had to eat it open faced, as Suzette did.
After breakfast I cut the four Mr. Lincoln blooms. Their fragrance is heavenly.
We rested until 11:00 when we got dressed and at Noon drove to Albuquerque Museum to see the new exit of works that express or work with aspects of light. It was interesting, but not to my liking because most were large and required large white walls.
We then drove to the Sandoval’s house in the north valley for a wine event sponsored by Keshet featuring Wne by Robert Zinskey and food by Artichoke. We said hello to Patty and Terry. Patty said they just sold Farina restaurant and bought a house on the River in Jemez.
The 5 wines were wonderful. My favorites were the Orgia 100% Pinot Blanc and his Pinot Noir. The winery is in Southern Carneros and I spoke to Robert briefly and told him how much I liked his wines. The pourer was exceedingly knowledgeable about the wines and I enjoyed speaking to him.
After about thirty minutes the food was all put out next to the outdoor kitchen beside a cabana and the swimming pool.
The food offerings were extensive: grilled shrimp, chicken satays, tri point beef served with a spicy salsa verde, pasta salad with capers, creamy potato salad, garden salad, grilled asparagus and large Potobello mushrooms.
My favorites were the grilled Portobellos and Chicken satay.
We loved lunch ?.. Felcker and his wife sat by us and their friend Tom Jenkins and his wife sat down by us also. Suzette talked to Tom about real estate and I discussed business and our trip to Argentina with Felker.
After lunch there were several dances performed by the Keshet students. One of the most interesting aspects of the day were the golden glass balls floating in the swimming pool. Suzette wants to order some for her pond in Los Lunas.
We left around 2:30 after talking to our host and hostess, the Sandovals.
When we returned home we rested and watched TV. At 7:00 we enjoyed the new episode of Eva Longoria’s Spain on the food of Galicia. I thought it dealt with what it was like to be a Galician and not as much about the food, but I enjoyed it anyway.
At 8:00 I ate the last bit of Locro and loved it and then one of the fresh dill pickles I put in the bottle yesterday. It was fresh and crunchy and lightly pickled.
We went to bed at 8:30 after a full day’s activity in 1/2 day.
Bon Appetit
