December 12, 2024 Breakfast chocolate croissant with latte machiatta Lunch - Thai Spice Restaurant. Dinner - PPI Asturian bean Soup with clams and mussels
We started the day at 8:00 by going to Tricore at Pres for blood draws.
When we returned home we ate croissants with latte machiattas. Very French.
I worked at my desk until 12:00 and then drove to Thai Spice Restaurant located in a strip center at 7441 Paseo del Norte to meet Rahim and Nizar and Nizar’s helper, Yasmin, for lunch. Thai Spice features traditional Thai Cuisine. It was busy. Rahim suggested we order from the dinner menu. I chose Massaman Curry with its peanut flavored sauce. Rahim ordered a favorite, Drunken Noodles, and we all agreed to order Tom Yum Gai soup.
It was great to see Nizar and Rahim and meet Yasmin, who is a member of their Ishmaeli church, who helps two days per week. Yasmin has a son who works as an environmental supervisor for the Navajo Nation and a daughter who is doctor.
Soon food began arriving and we passed it around and every one shared.
The soup and two dishes were enough for all four of us. I liked everything, especially since I ordered it with mild heat. The lowest level of heat. We asked for and were brought a small condiment rack with four small jars in it, with four different chili sauces.
It was a lovely meal with lots of great conversation, including the hotel remodel, the Johal’s land in California, and dematerialization of our Indian bank stock. And it is Rahim’s 50 th BD, so I bought lunch.
After lunch at 2:00 I drove to Whole Foods on Wyoming and bought figs and Ruby red grapefruit.
I then drove home and met Aaron and Andrea to sign a new parenting agreement but Andrea soon decided she did not want to sign and left.
I gave Aaron my 1908 5th Printing of the original 1899 publication of Wizard of Oz by Frank Baum with a note to give to Alexi as a Christmas gift.
Then around 3:20 I drove through heavy traffic to Sprouts on Coors to see if they had blood oranges, but they did not. Nor did they have smoked pork chops, so I bought a lb. of cooked mussels frozen in cryovac in a box and a bunch of Italian flat leaf parsley.
I then drove to Costco for a hearing test. As I suspected, I needed hearing aids. In fact the hearing test performed by Jonathan was almost identical to the one performed by Audiology Associates in July.
Good news, the Phillips pair of hearing aids Johnathon recommended and that I bought for $1500 was on special adding a TV adapter for free. So again this year I bought a major appliance at Christmas.
At 6:00 I drove home. Suzette was home with a bad back. She brought in the PPI Asturian bean stew with clams. We heated it and then added the mussels and toasted two pieces of baguette for dipping in the sauce.
We shucked our mussels and ate a wonderful bowl of Fabes con mejillones y almejas. it reminded me of the beans and clams we ate in Spain.
We watched a Christmas movie and Suzette uwent to bed.
Later I drank a cup of tea with a slice of pumpkin roll with cream cheese icing and went to bed.
Bon Appetit
