June 22, 2025 Brunch - Potatoes, Mushrooms, and Steak with an Egg,  Snack - Herring on Pumpernickel. Dinner - Chicken Mole on Rice

Today was interesting from the News standpoint because Friday night the U.S. bombed three of Iran’s nuclear facilities.

It looks to me that it was a plan that Israel and the U.S. hatched days ago. Israel would take out Iran’s air defenses, so the U.S. could fly unimpeded to its targets.

Now we shall see what Iran’s allies Russia and China do as well as see what a militarily weakened Iran will do to retaliate.

I woke up around 6:15 and nibbled as I put up the last of the food.

Suzette went to the garden and brought back the first ripe fig from our bush that we split.

After the news we ate a small brunch of mainly leftovers, a fried egg on top of sautéed mushrooms, potatoes, and steak.

Later I snacked on herring on pumpernickel.

I also paid Carlos for fixing the roof.  I am happy that it will be repaired and sealed with penofin oil.

For dinner we heated the PPI Chicken Mole with Rice and freshened up the pea and greens salad.

It was a relaxing day for me but the evening schedule of PBS programs are what I really enjoyed: Ms. Fisher, Patience (a Dutch copy of the Swedish Astrid series featuring an autodidact who works in a police evidence library who helps the police solve cases), Grantchester, Atlantic Crossing, and Finally a new series about the formation of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire in the early 1800’s.

A heady mix of interesting history.

Bon Appetit
